Wore a whole in my terrace listening. Best win in years. Rule question: Official says by rule the game was over at 38-26 and no EP. What if score had been 27-20, would EP be allowed to tie or win with 2?

I don't have a copy of the rule book, but it probably states that if a score is made on the final play of the game and the extra point try WILL NOT affect the outcome of the game (win or loss) then the game is officially over. I've never really seen a football officials rule book though.

mh, makes sense to me. Did LSU attempt the PAT after their last play?

That's one of those moments n mylife that I have conveniently erased from my memory!! My guess is that they didn't try the extra point.

I do not believe they did,,,, but then again, if the losing teams fans take down the goal posts are they then forced to go for 2?? [Big Grin]

That's exactly what the rule states. Since the conversion would be the final play of the game, and if the PAT wouldn't make a difference in the outcome of the game, the attempt is not made.

The game was officially over after the TD.
