UK defensive coordinator Mike Archer said he knew he was getting a player when Kelley arrived from the famed LaGrange (Ga.) program. But nobody could have predicted that the former high school defensive end would have adjusted to middle linebacker, perhaps the most complex position on the field, so quickly. He's going to have to beat me out," Kelley said of Johnson. "No knock against him. If he's the better player, he'll play. But it's ridiculous to think I'm just going to allow somebody to come in and take my spot. As far as I'm concerned, I plan on staying on the field at (middle) linebacker."
