Davis was destined for greatness the first time he stepped on Rupp arena's floor.
Three years into his NBA career, Anthony Davis has become a rising star and tabbed as perhaps the next ultimate superstar. None of that has really surprised John Calipari, his coach at UK when he helped the Wildcats win the 2012 national championship.
"The best thing that I can tell you is he wants to win. That's what he wants. He wants to win. He'll sacrifice whatever he has to to win,” Calipari said. “If they win he's happy. If they lose and he gets 40 he's not happy.
“So unusual. So comfortable in his own skin. Wants to be coached. He and I talked and he was laughing about three or four days ago. We were going back and forth. He just wants to win. I knew he was going to be good. This fast? I knew the USA basketball stuff would really help him, teach him about being a professional, how you have to work and also build confidence – 'I'm as good as any of these guys.'
