Tamme was a special player for the Cats, no doubt about that.

After seven years playing in the National Football League first with the Indianapolis Colts and then the Denver Broncos, Jacob Tamme says he is more excited than ever as he gets set to start his first season with the Atlanta Falcons.

“One thing that is really encouraging for me is that I really enjoy playing football more now than I ever have,” said the former Boyle County and University of Kentucky star. “A lot of guys cannot say that at this point in their career. It’s kind of a slow fade for some, but I have not experienced that. I feel good physically and I more excited on the practice field than my rookie year. I can’t explain it, but I am thankful for it.”

Tamme, a fourth-round draft pick of Indianapolis, got his big chance in 2010 when Colts receiver Dallas Clark, a Pro Bowl player, got hurt. Tamme had a career-high 67 receptions for 631 yards and four touchdowns in the final 10 games. When Clark returned in 2011 and quarterback Peyton Manning got hurt, Tamme was relegated to a lesser role again.
