I've been watching Pro Football For almost 60 years, and Peyton Manning is as good as any quarterback I've ever seen.

I have enjoyed watching Peyton play since his Tennessee days and he has been special since he stepped on to a football field. I think what makes him special is the way he handles himself both on and off the field. I agree with Norm best of all time.

I agree Norm, I was watching today, and after Peyton threw that interseption, the guy tried to taunt him, and he just waived him off.

The man is unbelievable. Never count him out of a game. He may be the best there's ever been, regardless of only having one SB ring.

And I think he is as good a person as he is quarterback. Classy young man who certainly is head and shoulders above any NFL quarterback I can recall playing the game. Archie and his wife brought the Manning boys up the right way and both he and Eli have great NFL careers. I enjoyed watching the hour and a half special on Archie and his wife raising their three sons, very good watch in case anyone has not yet seen it on ESPN.

For about ten years, the Colts held their preseason camp at the college I work for. While they were here, I would routinely run into coaches and players. Most were very nice and willing to have a brief conversation. (The administrative staff, however, were complete jerks).

For years, a group of faculty and staff have had our "NBA games" (noon-time basketball association) every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. When I would go down to the gym, invariably Payton would be there, clipboard in hand, working with his receivers. Coach Dungey would be on the treadmill. And various other Colts would be doing workouts or drills. In the evenings, I would sometimes come to campus to fish in one of the small lakes. Colts players would be finishing their film sessions, and they would frequently join me for some fishing, or just to chat. It was an amazing opportunity to get to know those guys.

Payton was head-and-shoulders above the rest in terms of being available and willing to interact. His intelligence was evident, but his devotion to his team was extraordinary. I am biased by my contact with him, but I must agree that he is one of the best ever.

First let me say that I too enjoy watching Manning play. I think Manning is a heck of a QB, but I'm not sure that I would put him in my Top 5 of all time greatest QB's.

I think Peyton has a knack for "not coming up big" in big games (generally he decides to throw a pick 6 or two). An "All-Time" great should not have a losing record in the playoffs as a QB.

I think because of his character and being such a great person that the media has elevated him above where he should be and I think they are doing the same thing with Andrew Luck.

I generally put Manning, Marino, and Jim Kelly in the same category. Great QB's who put up ridiculous numbers and are tremendous role models, but I wouldn't take any of the three over guys like Montana/Bradshaw/Brady/Aikman/Staubach (I can't comment on Unitas and Starr because I never saw them play, but from what history tells me I would take them) come playoff time.
