I guess if you can't win with the players you have the only thing left to do is go out and buy some more.

The Yankees, who in the last two weeks signed the top two starting pitchers on the market, left-hander CC Sabathia and right-hander A.J. Burnett, came to terms with Teixeira on Tuesday for an eight-year, $180 million deal.

The Yankees will have nine players being paid $13 million or more in 2009. Those nine players – Teixeira, Sabathia, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, A.J. Burnett, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Hideki Matsui and Johnny Damon – combine for $159.1 million, more than the payroll of any other team.

They already do that, and they are getting their clocks cleaned. I say, "knock yourself out."

A salary cap is needed so all teams can compete. Money doesn't always win it,but it helps. Hope there are more Tampa Bay's out there this coming season.

How much does anyone think the Big Red Machine would have cost in todays money??Rose,Morgan,Griffey,Bench,Perez,Foster,Concepcion,Geronimo, etc

Does MLB not have a salary cap or is that only the NBA?

Quit complaining! The Yankees make tons of money and it is put back into the team to hopefully be succesfull. They also have to give every team in MLB money not to mention helping sale tickets when they are in their town. What do these teams do with the money? As long as they are playing by the rules every one needs to quit crying. [Big Grin]

Go Yanks!!!!!!
