I have a question that may seem like a joke but it’s not.
Do UK fans hurt our program?
We are widely considered the best fan base in sports with the way the fans travel.
It’s a double edged sword though. UK fans turn on the team quickly.
Maybe I’m soft in my old age but I always thought Mark Pope should get three years. ( and I find myself questioning that now)
Granted this season has been a failure by must UK standards and I feel we are trending down.
I wonder if the rabid fan base has helped foster that toward trend.
Had any of us grown up not bleeding blue, would we want to endure the sometimes vitriolic behavior?
NIL may make other options more attractive.
Just my $0.02.

I don't think that us fans hurt the program at all. We just expect and deserve a quality product.

There’s a lot of rabid fan bases out there but, IMO, none more so than UK fans. We have lot of knowledgeable fans but we have plenty that just think they are. Here on the Domain we are all in the knowledgeable category. I’ve wondered if we hurt more than help.

I believe a lot of good players have not came here or left early because of the vitriol of our fans. I believe these young men are all over these social media sites and see all the criticism aimed at them. You can make the argument that now they are being paid we are justified for calling them out for poor play. You may be right. Just an opinion because I certainly have no prove of any of this

As far as Pope goes, I also have believe he should get at least 3 years just out of a sense of fair play. If not, we will be crucified by the media. That doesn’t mean I think he is the right coach for UK but I believe he should get another year.

I’ve said this before. I think he would make a wonderful Sunday School teacher. I’m much less sure about his ability to be an effective coach at Kentucky

Agree. But I'm hoping to still get my basketball signed by him in a personal setting, hopefully with his team. I have a little present for all of them if they do, otherwise I have a whole lot of rookie POY AL basball cards for myself. I purchased about 30 Nick Kurtz cards to give each one a card for Christmas. That didn't work and I'll be trying again in the off season with whoever is left.

Nick Kurtz 1B Oakland A's
rookie season
HR tied for 5th with 36
RBI 13th with 86
Ave. .290 6th

If he continues this he could become another Mantle, Maris, Ted Williams or who knows.

AL Rookie of the year all 30 votes

Social Media is one of the worse things that ever happen to sports programs Like KY! (FAN WISE)

If you don't think players see the negative stuff that supposed fans spew on social media, then you are kidding yourself! If the players themselves don't see it, then I guarantee opposing programs find that kind of stuff and use it to their advantage when recruiting players into the program!
