Watching the post game presser and Pope has said multiple times that they are trying to simplify things, and DUMB it down, on offense so that they can play with more pace. does that mean this team is just stupid basketball wise? Did he not know this when he put this roster together?
He also said guys aren't playing with the pace and sprinting to screens. That's basically a lack of effort. He needs to hold them accountable and set a high standard. If they don't meet it they don't play. If they don't give the effort you run them to death or kick them out of practice until they get the message.
He ends by saying we're really tying to dumb it down so we can play with more pace. That does not instill any confidence in me for the rest of the season. I have a feeling this season is going to get alot worse before it gets better.

Coach Pope looked lost last night. this team is so hard to watch. I thought Quatence would be a difference maker, but Missouri scored at will under the basket last night.

Ukman, this team appears to me to be the dumbest group of players i've ever seen. They make the dumbest passes and take the dumbest shots. No one will ever convince me that the last shot by Lowe is what Pope drew up in the timeout. My only knock on the coaching staff is that they chose this group of players.

They do appear to have very low basketball IQ's, but Pope chose these players so he has to know their basketball IQ and capabilities. If they can't run this offense, then come up with set plays. This team can't run the zoom action well because we don't have the shooters. Run some kind of motion offense that gives them more direction as to what to do and where to go. Heck, run set plays like mid major teams do to get quality shots against better competition. He should know the players and be able to tailor an offense to get the most out of their collective abilities. I feel like he just doesn't know what to do with the players that he chose to get. Some of the responsibility is on the lineups he chooses to put together, and sometimes the timing.

I also think it might be time for BBN to start flooding Barnhart's email, etc with questions about this JMI thing. That contract is what has caused us to have no recruits for next year, and probably why we didn't get some of the portal guys we really wanted. Barnhart could end up being personally responsible for destroying this program and he should be held accountable and forced to explain the deal and why he signed. He need to be held to the fire by the press and forced to answer questions and explain why he felt it was the best thing to do for UK. I bet it is part of why Cal decided to leave. He probably knew about this deal and saw how it would affect his recruiting. He knew it was time for him to go because he would be handcuffed by this deal. And we all know that if he doesn't have top talent he isn't going to win anything. He's a smart guy and left at the best time for him.

Maybe not Barnhard's email, but the UK president. Barnhard can ignore us, but the president cannot. He will be forced to confront this crisis in BBN.

Who's up for emailing the president then? If this JMI things isn't fixed I feel we are doomed to lose out on every 5 star prospect.

I feel we have hit the on the head here. By the way JQ is not playing today because of some mysterious injury, or is it because of dumb it down???? After his first game back it doesn't seem like he is doing what we expected. I have a feeling this season is going to be a wash, but I hope not.

JQ being out probably won't hurt any more than normal. They don't get him the ball inside like they should. In the first eight minutes of the Missouri game, I think he had two touches on offense. That's unacceptable.

By the sounds of things I am glad I chose to stop watching this team for the year during the first half of the Bama game.
As I said a month and half ago this is just a really bad roster. Pope has very few options. No one who can create their own shot, no one they can throw it into the post and score, and no one on the team can stay in front of the guy they are to be guarding. It's a terrible combination of non talent. Not sure how you could pick a worse roster with $22M dollars. LOL.
I did see in the Box Score that Noah and Jelavic once again got zero minutes.....As bad as the team is defensively I really don't understand why these two can't play because they are better offensive options then Denzel/Diabate/Chandler.
Actually for pure shooting they are probably the best two options. At least maybe they could space the floor to open up drives.
