On a bit of a holiday errand tonight so I have the game recorded. Should I watch it?
First, what did N C Central do, or didn't do different than say Gonzaga? Sure, there is an obvious talent separation between those teams, so, does that say that the separation between UK and NCC is the same as between UK and Gonzaga?
What caused the poor shooting against Gonzaga, 26.7% FG, 20.6% 3-pt, and even 76.9% ft? Was it style of play, physicality in the paint, poor shot selection, superior defense, style of play, or a combination of all of the above? Style of play and superior defense could easily cause poor shot selection, but good floor leader should quell that somewhat, at least to make the game respectable. That game was over at the under 12 timeout in the first half. So should we toss in poor floor leadership in that mix as well. That possible then causes to ask the question, what about coaching? Is this where it all ends up? Come on, Coach Pope faced similar challenges at BYU for sure, and managed respectable outcomes even when outmanned. I then must consider and ask, is it the name on the front of the jersey, is it Kentucky and all that weighs with it? I haven't even started on the defense but I'll stop here and move on to tonight.
NCC, well, before I say anything, looking at the shot chart, they were 10 of 12 in the circle under the rim, and 5 of 14 in the rest of the paint. that is 15 of 26 in the paint, or 58%. The all the rest of their shooting was a combined 9 of 31, or 29 %.
good thing for UK they could not shoot from distance. As a team NCC shot 42.1% FG, 31.6% 3-pt, and 76.5% FT.
UK shot 60.9% FG, 41.4% 3-pt, and 92,9% ft. we recorded 27 assists, on 39 made baskets, opposed to 9 turnovers, a 3-1 margin. We recorded 7 offensive rebounds on 15 missed shots. 29 defensive rebounds on their 33 missed shots. Needless to say all of the stats are a heavy lean towards UK, so was the difference the talent, were we able to determine how the game was played, and if so, is that how Gonzaga and Michigan State made us look juvenile compared to their men?
So I ask, should I watch this game? Will it give me a(nother) false sense of how this team will play this season. We face an IU team that put in 113 points against Penn St. That's another 4 day period, should I plan to watch that game?
Of course I'll watch this one, because I watch them all and form my own conclusions, and I will of course also watch the IU game, and all of them that follow, but I'll be dammed if I have answers to any of the questions. the ball is the same, the basket is the same, the shots are even the same, what changes? Even shot selection, a large number of bad shots are more of when and not what, so they should still go in. Anyway, I am tired so I'll stop and get some rest and then watch in the morning.

I really enjoyed how passionate Coach was, and especially pulling Garrison from the game and not putting him back in. He's got to play his best players and the one's who play hard and will listen.

In my onion, you won’t gain much insight by watching. We looked good for the most part, but the competition was really poor.
Normally this would be a feel good game but we are in a deficit in the good feels department.
Just my $.02

I wouldn't waste your time unless you truly have nothing better to do. Play like they did tonight on Saturday and IU wins by 20 plus in my opinion.
