I’m on several UK sites on Facebook, I rarely comment on any of them

I can not believe the number of posts calling out Coach Pope on these sites. Comments vary from, can’t recruit, too soft spoken, can’t recognize talent, hair too short, should be fired etc.

I think it is a little too early to jump off the band wagon. He still has two or three starters (depending on who you listen to) not playing due to injuries. I’m willing to give him more time before I become too critical.

We have an impatient fan base.

The one thing we need to realize, last year we had a couple of shots fall, balls bounce our way, calls mad or not made in our favor at critical times, and we won games that no one even thought we had a chance.

That set a bar to follow this year and after what, 8 games, since we didn't get those favorable bounces and whistles we lost games that maybe we should lose, just maybe, but that is the nature of the game.

The only game this year where we were beaten was MSU, the rest, just how things turned out. Things even out, and hopefully during this very tough non conference stretch we get our karma and win a few of these games.

My opinion, all we need is a calm confident influence on the floor and I think that is to come at some point, but until we get someone to step up as out leader we are going to have to have a few things go our way to get through this.

The biggest thing we need to go our way is the 3 point shot. Almost half time before we got our one and only 3 pointer in the game to fall tells me one thing. For some reason we are not making our 3 pointers against the better teams. Is it because their defense is better. Or is it something we are doing different? Maybe lack of concentration? Maybe not taking the right 3 pointers? Are we just not as good as we thought we were when it comes to 3 pointers? I don't have the answer but I have offered my help. I have contacked Nick Robinson who takes care of all the visitors who see all the sports teams at UK and offered a 15-20 minute pep talk to see if it helps. I also have a Bowman Nick Kurtz rookie baseball card for everyone. He was not even in the Topps set this year and he surprised them by hitting 36 HR, 90+ RBI and average of .292. Pretty good figures for any rookie. My 41 years in the Air Force and Civil Service experience is what I think gives me to talk to them and I hope they take me up on it soon. To be continued. Maybe???

Listening to Goose and Tom call the games while watching on TV I seem to pick up a lot of interesting info. Goose, who knows basketball and a great talent himself, says we don't have a go to player right now. His comments, "I'm not sure, if I had to design a play for my scorer with the game on the line, who my scorer is. I'm not sure KY has a 'GO TO GUY' right now!"

He has a point. If we're down 2 points with last possession and we need a basket, who is our go to guy?

Just like we saw at the end of the game it was Chandler. Wheter it just happened that way or it was planned he is the one most likely to get the ball. Can he do it every time? He didn't in the last game but will he get better over time? It seems every year we have key players down with injuries which kills our chances for a final four. Those who believe in destiny ar winning right now. Us who have hope are still looking for better 3 point shooting like we though before the season started.

What has bothered me about this season is that the team doesn't really seem to care and they do not seem to play together. There just isn't any cohesion and the effort has been lacking. Giving up 20 off. rebounds to UNC is ridiculous. I am pulling for Pope, and I think he's good at X's and O's, but this year the offense seems very stagnant. Alot of standing around and looking for someone else to make something happen. I would like to see some emotion from Pope and see him chew some one out if it gets their but going. I definitely have optimism for the season, but watching this Gonzaga game right now is not helping. We look soop bad to start.

2-19 right now against the Zags and this team doesn't look like it even gives a s_ _ _! There is something really off with this group and Pope has to get it figured out. Maybe he needs to figure out who really cares and only play those 7-8 guys.

And I love Pope, but this does fall on him as the coach. It's his job to figure out who plays best together and to motivate these guys to play for each other. I know it's still early, but this is an absolute joke right now. It is completely unacceptable for UK basketball. The team should be completely embarrassed and I hope he absolutely chewed them out at half, and didn't try to comfort them and only encourage them. Some guys need to get their butt shewed to get through to them. Just ridiculous.

I love Pope too, but he has lost the team and fan base.

I absolutely agree with the two previous posts. How in the world did this team beat Purdue?

I can answer all those questions above. When you don't make your shoys you can't let it get you down. This team has done just that. Maybe it's just a coincidense that they are not making their shots against the big boys. As ole Redbone would "rat now we look like we gat a rowboat lookin lik a piece a swis ches. The ors are also brok in haf."No word from UK about me talking to them and I figured that is what would happen. Right now I'm not so sure I want my ball signed or to give away all 40 of my Nick Kurtz rookie cards.

I think that there multiple issues….layers and layers of them.
They don’t play as a team. They seem selfish. They seem to be buckling under the pressure of being UK players. The spotlight is too bright for them.
The coaching staff seem to be in the same boat.
Yips begat yips, begat yips.
