That is a coach that is very frustrated with his team and searching for answers that I am not sure he is going to find.
Definitely some tension going on between players and maybe players and coaches.
-------------------- Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

He couldn't find the words he was looking for at the press conference after the game. He was completely at a loss to say what he was feeling. Maybe the next couple games will help him see more clearly but the injuries continue to plauge us as in the past. If we don't get the missing pieces back soon this may be another season of mediocrity. I would sure be willing to give them a pep talk if they'd only invite me. My military service and civilian government experience I think would be able to help me provide the right words to maybe get them going. But no amount of talk is going to help them make their shots. We are losing by missing too many shots which may plague us all season.

Man what happened to our forwards? I don't currently understand the hype that came with Dioubate. He is not very good at all. I feel like we're just a team of guards. Other than Moreno, our big guys bring nothing to this team so far. We simply cannot rebound. Maybe Moreno needs a bigger role and be used like Amari Williams was used last year. I loved the offense we ran last year. This year, not so much.

PC,
I never understood the excitement over Diabate. Never thought he was a good player at Bama. He plays hard, but that does not make you good.
Noah has regressed, Oweh is looks like Oklahoma Oweh, Jelavic is your typical soft Euro player, Jasper can’t guard his shadow, Abderdeen is not a true point guard, Chandler is a fouling machine, it is just a bad lineup. Moreno is probably the best all around player and he was labeled as a “project”.
I like Kam too, but other than Moreno and him this roster stinks.

Pope looks dejected.
I think there are things he’s not sure how to handle with this team.
Chemistry is non existent.
Players trying to show out for NBA.
It seems the checks cleared and players are ok with that.
Players need to know their roles. They need to be defined. Players have to buy in on being the best at their role. I just don’t see it happening.
Mo and OO need to drive and do the hustle plays.
Jella needs to learn fast and hopefully be a serviceable stretch 4.
Not having a quality PG hurts. Also if the players don’t run the system it doesn’t matter.
We also have no court leader.
I’m rambling.
Probably more than my normal $.02

Trey,
I wasn't aware of the nil money descrepancy that you pointed out in the game thread. If Oweh is only getting $350k ("only".. wow. A college kid raking in $350 would have been unthinkable a few years ago), but others are over $1M, then yeah, THAT is a catalyst for chemistry probems.
Pope called out Oweh recently for trying to work on the weaknesses in his game that the pro scouts pointed out, instead of filling in the role that Pope needs him to play. That just screams "CHEMISTY" problem.
Not sure how you can let the SEC preseason POY get shafted on NIL money. That is a HUGE mistake. But, regardless, Oweh needs to listen to Pope intead of looking forward to his next paycheck.
NIL is distorting college sports so much I can't stand to watch.

Diabate is a great role player, but not really a UK-level star. Let him set picks and roll to the basket, let him box out on the glass... maybe deliver a "message" or two when necessary.
I really like Moreno's offensive game. He is a better "euro" player than our Euro player.
Not sure what is up with Noah (sophmore slump?). I think he and Moreno could be a great "Kentucky-boy" duo for a few years.
The rest? I can't get a read on them. I certainly can see that this team isn't playing very well right now, but I am not convinced it is due to poor players, just really bad chemistry and not following the system. This year's offense is based upon the same system as last year, but these guys just are executing really poorly.
Pope is starting to sweat, I am sure. Not that his job is in danger, but he is probably starting to feel the pressure from the fan base. If he can't get these guys to play his way, and do so with skill, then this is going to be a very, very disappointing season.
Maybe next year he won't stack up so many top-10 matchups so early...

In just a couple of weeks I’ve gone to thinking this could be a final four team to wondering if we will make the tournament.
Oh well, we’ve always got our football team.😒

Most of it comes right down to shooting. If you miss your shots you are in big trouble because every team who is anyone is scoring. We got way too many bad misses!

Travis Ford was talking about this team, and Pope, in a recent interview. While he has confidence that Pope can get things going in the right direction, he pointed out something that startled me.
Of all the players on this year's team, only one (Oweh) was a starter on a college team last season.
The rest were sixth men, or role players.
Is this all Pope could buy with NIL money? And, to follow up on an earlier point, why is the ONLY one to have started last year on any team paid the least amount of NIL money?
Color me... confused.
