What do y'all think about the basketball team getting 45% of the revenue? And will this keep the football team at the bottom of the sec since less money will be spent on it?

I can live with the basketball team competing for national championships and be a so so football team. I've lived the majority of my life with the same scenario for decades. Basketball 🏀 is king IMO.

Spending a lot of money on a dozen or so basketball players should pay off more than spending the same amount of money on several dozen football players.

But, yeah. UK cannot hope to compete in football against teams like Texas (who unabashedly boasts of spending VAST amounts to "buy" a football championship), or the other Big Powers (Alabana, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU). 4-8 will become the norm for us, with a good year being 6-6. Just like the "old days".

Honestly, football getting 100% of the revenue would not be enough to buy a team that would compete in the SEC. Maybe before the most recent expansion they could compete every 3-5 years, but nobody is going to outspend Texas and Ohio State. For one, we can't compete to get the coaches to attract the top players. I don't see UGA, Bama, Michigan, Oregon, UT, Penn St, and other traditionally good football programs consistently competing with those 2 teams. There are a multitude of honorable mention teams that will get the players UK needs to play in the SEC.
