Transferred to Ole Miss. I wish him well but I honestly believe he does not have the talent to be an impact player in the SEC.

I think he will do well at Ole Miss. Like I said earlier, I think he improved as much as anyone on the team from beginning to end last season.

He is a gym rat and a coach's son. He will continue to improve in all areas in my opinion.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

Trey, I’m not being modest when I say I think you know more about basketball than I. However, I think he will always be a defensive liability and that alone will limit his playing time. IMO, he is too short and too slow to improve significantly on defense. I believe he would have a hard time keeping a fence post in front of him and if he did, the post would shoot over him.

I like the kid a lot and hope your expectations are spot on.

I am not saying he is Braden Smith, but he is actually a little taller than Braden and bigger. Braden probably has a quicker first step and Braden is a much better passer at this stage. Smith is a slightly better ball handler I would say, but Smith is also a turnover machine against quicker guards. Braden is a defensive liability as well, but Painter covers it up with scheme in my opinion. Perry is a better shooter and I believe a better pure scorer than Smith. Smith has improved every single season and I think Perry will as well. I think Smith is a heck of a College Player and Perry has to continue to improve to over the next couple of years or the comparison is mute. Plenty of players with Smith and Perry's stature have had excellent college careers. You just are not going to play at the NBA level at that size the majority of the time.

I know this…..to play for Chris Beard you are going to gave to play defense and play it within his scheme. He obviously thinks Perry can play and fit his style, kind of like Pedulla did this year for Ole Miss. Beard recruited Perry hard out of high school as well so he must have a plan for him. We will see.

I think that if there is a silver lining to the cloud that is the NIL, it is that players such as Perry can and should go where they will get minutes, and if they improve they can and should go to a school like Kentucky.

I understand that we are comparing 2 SEC schools here, but the likelihood of Ole Miss recruiting over Perry year after year, which is what is likely to happen at UK, is much less. At Ole Miss, I would suspect that once he earns a position it is his to lose rather than some top recruit coming and taking it from him just on his rating.

What I am trying to say is, spend a couple years at Ole Miss, refine your game, then come back to Kentucky and hang a banner your senior year... [Big Grin]
