Kentucky is looking to add “a couple games” to the end of its schedule, a move that would give the program as many as six more opponents to close out the regular season leading up to the SEC Tournament.

During UK’s pre-Tennessee press conference Friday morning, John Calipari said any end-of-year additions to the schedule will depend on the SEC’s decision to make up conference games and where Kentucky falls on the priority list for seeding purposes.

Should the SEC decide UK doesn’t need to reschedule the team’s matchup against South Carolina – originally scheduled for Dec. 29 – he will look to add “a couple games.”

Either way, that additional week leading up to the SEC Tournament will be crucial (and busy) for the program.

“We could, we could reschedule,” Calipari said. “We only have one league game to make up, so I don’t know. I imagine it would probably be — what I might do is, if they say we’re not making up that game (against South Carolina) based on seeding… South Carolina has missed a lot of games, so they can’t play five games or four games in a week. So which games are the most important that they make up for the seeding?

“Whatever that is, if we’re not one of them and we have a week, yes, I’d try to schedule a couple games.”

Should we get to that point, Calipari says he has a few mid-major opponents lined up, with opposing athletic directors already reaching out to the UK head coach asking if he wants to play.
