Despite the fact that he's yet to receive a scholarship offer from Kentucky and just a sophomore, there's not a more talked about recruit among UK fans, locally or nationally, than London (Ky.) North Laurel 2023 combo guard Reed Sheppard.

And that's not just because he's the son of a pair of former Wildcats greats.

Sheppard has been putting up monster numbers this season, averaging 31.1 points while shooting 58.6 percent overall, 40.5 percent from three-point range, and 86.2 percent from the free throw line, and 8.0 rebounds in helping lead the Jaguars to a perfect 9-0 record.

He made another major statement Friday night, recording a triple-double of 50 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in North Laurel's 84-77 win over archrival South Laurel.

Sheppard, of course, is the son of two-time men's basketball national champion Jeff Sheppard and Stacey Reed, who finished her UK career among the school's 10 all-time leading scorers. Before going on to play at UK, Stacey Reed starred for Laurel County High School before it was split into North and South, leading the school to a pair of Kentucky state championships in 1987 and 1991.

Of course we don't know what Cal is doing with him but I would hope he is secretly getting in good with him. What more do you want, good shooting % as well as 3pt and freethrow %%. He rebounds and has a lot of assists. Look out though his tan is missing. [Razz] [Big Grin]

Cal probably doesn't want to recruit a player that might actually want to stand for the National Anthem...

I think Cal realizes his talent and even more important how much the fans are looking forward for another Sheppard playing for the Cats!
