High school sports in Kentucky have been given a green light (for the moment). The NBA and Major League Baseball are still on pace to finish their respective seasons. And it is looking more and more like SEC football is going to be played this fall. But what about college basketball.

According to Matt Norlander at CBS Sports, there are currently four plans on the table for the potential return of college basketball. There is obviously still a chance that an alternate plan could be developed. But for now, the following plans are being considered.

Option 1
First practices allowed: Sept. 29
First day of season: Nov. 10 (No change to start of season)
Option 2
First practices allowed: Oct. 9
First day of season: Nov. 20
Option 3
First practices allowed: Oct. 14
First day of season: Nov. 25
Option 4
First practices allowed: Oct. 24
First day of season: Dec. 4
College basketball officials plan to spend the next several days gathering feedback on these models from conferences and coaches. The hope is that a start date will be selected by the men’s and women’s oversight committees on August 31st, although an official vote by the D-I Council will not be held until September 16th.

With college basketball being cut short last season, fans would love for this season to start as early as possible. But will it be safe enough to start the season as originally planned? So much can change between now and September 16th that the best thing we all can do is to stay away from each other and mask up. That is our best chance to see this special group of Kentucky Wildcats take the court in November.
