At least it was the wildcats that we have been looking for since Oct 26. I think it took a while but maybe Cal finally got everything figured out.
He knew Green was never going to make it as our main PG. Maybe he told him so? Quickly is just not good enough to be the main PG either. Hagans was still learning and getting accustomed to this level of ball. Today he finally decided to loosen up and play like Cal wanted him to play. He showed everyone he can play the lead PG on this team.
If Herro ever gets some luck with his shots he will be a big time scorer. A lot of his shots just rim out. Even the announcer almost called a make on one that just came out.
Johnson seemed to be a little quiet early in the game with some fouls but he finally got it going from 3 pt land.
Washington and Travis finally had a great day working off each other in the paint. That is one good starting five that can play with anyone when they put their minds to it.
Baker, Richards, Montgomery and Quickly are all able subs that can contribute. If they will continue to play and learn we could have a final four team by March. BUT ONE GAME DOES NOT MAKE A SEASON. YOU HAVE TO PLAY FOR 40 MINUTES LIKE WE JUST ABOUT DID TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON.

Bama, it was a win we fans really needed. We were about to throw in the towel on this group because they did not seem to enjoy playing basketball and were having a hard time beating teams a good Ky team would have run out of the arena. Plus, the national sports media are once again recognizing us as a potential contender. One game does not a season make, unless it is the national championship game, but the win against UNC certainly showed us that the potential is there if they play hard and play together. 24 assists on 28 made baskets is unselfish basketball. Plus, out rebounding the number one rebounding team in the nation by 10 was huge.

I was one of the few, maybe the only one, that predicted we would win this game. There was never a doubt in my mind. I posted that several times. Not sure where those post are. Maybe the mods deleted them? [ 12-23-2018, 11:16 AM: Message edited by: handycat ]

Yeah, I hear you Handy. Someone replaced my prediction of a victory with a decidedly un-fan-like post saying we just weren't ready to play UNC. Norm, did YOU do that to us?

HaHa!! I think the majority of us thought we were doomed this year. It's amazing what can happen when the whole team plays well and almost everything goes our way. But most of the time you have to make it happen that way. It just don't happen when all you do is go thru the motion. [ 12-23-2018, 06:55 PM: Message edited by: Bama Cat ]
