Without looking it up, what does the "B" stand for in Joe B Hall?

It is a rather unusual middle name. I have a middle name that I don't let people know what the A stands for, have hated the middle name all my life and never used it. Have always abbreviated my name with the A. That may be the reason we did not know Joe B's middle name.
