The ones I see leaving are Briscoe, Bam, Monk, Fox and the three seniors Willis, Hawkins and Mulder. The only thing I can get from that is that one or two may transfer, I don't see Jones or Gabriel being NBA material at this point in their careers and feel that Jones will probably transfer. Gabriel has been a starter much of the season so he would probably be a starter next season. I can't see who number 8 would be, do feel Sacha Jones will not be back but feel Gabriel will be. Hawkins is a senior, too, so he's gone. That's seven (although Briscoe has no reason to leave after this year - he needs a degree).
So that leaves only one question mark. But maybe Cal was just throwing an estimated number out there. The more I read on the web, I don't see Jones leaving. Odds are, we lose seven.

Thanks paulcat, I went back and corrected my senior count on my original post on this topic adding Hawkins to the mix. I still feel Sacha K Jones will transfer and Gabriel will come back for another year. That would be a total of 8 leaving. I just do not see Briscoe being NBA material but think he will leave anyway and probably play overseas. [ 03-15-2017, 09:13 AM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

Unless something happens between now and the end of the tourney I see this. Bam, Fox and Monk are starting to prove they are ready to move on, although Monk is in a funk. Hawkins, Willis and Mulder will graduate. That is 6 of the guys Cal sees moving on. We don't really know what is being said between Jones and Cal. Maybe he is recommending to him that he needs to transfer, which would be 7. That leaves only Gabriel and Briscoe. Out of those two I would think Briscoe would be the one moving on. Cal has seen guys stick around instead of leaving and seen their stock fall (Harrisons). I would think this is what he is telling Briscoe. He would be my eighth person leaving, but he may not be worried about his stock falling and decide to stay. Pretty cut and dried to me, but I have been wrong

We have the 3 seniors leaving as well as Fox, Monk and Bam. These 6 are for sure gone. I believe Cal is simply saying that 8 will be leaving including Briscoe and Gabriel to pump them up for the draft. He has said multiple times since the new draft process that he thought everyone on his team should test the draft waters. To be honest Gabriel is not ready to compete at that level. Needs some more size and consistency and Briscoe will never make it in the pros. Neither of them are even on the draft board of the top 60 draft picks. Why on earth would you leave. I just hope that Cal doesnt keep giving Briscoe a ton of minutes over the next 2 years trying to get him into the pros. I have felt that Hawkins has played much better ball the last 2 years than Briscoe. Briscoe seems to do well against average and below average teams but when the competition steps up he is rarely there. I think he would be a good 6th man but Hawkins should have been getting those starting minutes. One think I am worried about is the fact that we have not really recruited many 3-4 years players and we have relied heavily on Hawkins and Willis over the past few years and we have no one on the bench ready to step into that role.

..............and Humphries and Briscoe would be the only juniors, unless Cal finds a junior college transfer.
