From KSR:

Congratulations to Isaiah Briscoe, who was just named SEC Freshman of the Week by the league for his performances against Illinois State and UCLA.

With Tyler Ulis out with an elbow injury, Briscoe stepped up last Monday night, scoring a career-high 18 points off 7-13 shooting to lead the Cats to the win. He followed that up with another career high on Thursday, scoring 20 points in UK’s loss to UCLA. In fact, John Calipari said Briscoe’s tenacity getting to the rim was pretty much the only thing he liked about UK’s performance.

LSU’s Ben Simmons took home the SEC Player of the Week honor, in part for his ridiculous 43-point performance against North Florida. That kid’s good.

Congrats to Briscoe.

But Ben Simmons scored forty-three points?

Yowsa. Who do we have that can stop him?

I think we will have to beat the surrounding cast, don't feel we have anyone who can stop Simmons from doing his thing. They play very little defense thus far, they are relying on offense alone to beat their opponents so hopefully we can exploit that.

Congrats to Briscoe and would bet he won't stop from winning that award again.

He was the only player attacking the basket on a regular basis against UCLA!

Briscoe played well but got to improve his 45% from the free throw line and his 23% from the 3 point line.

It’s the first weekly SEC honor of Briscoe’s career and the third such award for the Wildcats this season. Ulis previously won SEC Co-Player of the Week honors and freshman forward Skal Labissiere was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week to start the season.
