Norlander: I'll preface this by saying Powell is going to need to speak with the NCAA, hand over the evidence she has, and go from there. Her team of lawyers are working on how she'll be able to navigate the coming months -- in addition to dodging potential criminal charges, if applicable. Ultimately, yes, I think the NCAA comes down on Louisville and Pitino (provided he's still there) in a similar manner that it's hit SMU. You could easily make the case what's happened with Louisville is much worse than SMU, but what's key to remember at this juncture is no NCAA investigation has begun in earnest, and therefore no one has lied to the NCAA yet, which was a major component to the SMU case, too.

Parrish: Let me start where I always start with questions like this -- by explaining that the NCAA is historically inconsistent in how and where it punishes. So predicting what the NCAA will do is typically little more than a guessing game. But, that said, yeah, as long as Powell cooperates with the NCAA -- and, honestly, probably even if she doesn't, at this point -- I expect Louisville to be seriously punished, and more harshly than SMU. Stating the obvious here, but this is bad stuff -- the idea that a staff member could be purchasing prostitutes, bringing them to campus and providing them to players and prospects. It might not be the biggest scandal in college sports history, but it's a pretty ugly one, and I'll be surprised if the NCAA doesn't punish Louisville accordingly. And, absolutely, if Pitino is still around when the punishment is delivered he'll likely get the same kind of "lack of coach control" charge that Brown just got. That seems unavoidable.

Vecenie: Man, this is such a tough question for two reasons. One, simply put, we don't have all of the facts yet because the NCAA's investigation is only in its infancy stages. But second, it's hard not to be a prisoner of the moment with something as salacious as sex and prostitutes. For instance, right now it's pretty hard for me to envision a scenario where they get off easier than SMU. But as we get further away from the incident and we contextualize this thing the way that the NCAA will have to in order to dole out punishment, maybe we end up thinking differently and it just ends up being a very steamy extra benefits case. I do know one thing though: Louisville had better be truthful in every way with the NCAA, or this will absolutely be worse than the SMU and Syracuse situations. Lying is the one thing that we know with certainty that the NCAA comes down on with the fire of 1,000 suns. But if they're truthful from the get-go, I guess it's possible a similar punishment to SMU is in the ballpark still.
