Escort Katina Powell broke her silence on Tuesday, saying she has no proof that Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino knew that a former Cardinals staffer hired her and other dancers to strip and have sex with former recruits and players.

But Powell said in an interview initially aired on ABC's "Good Morning America" that with "a boatload" of recruits and dancers, "loud music, alcohol, security, cameras" in a campus dormitory, "how could Rick not know?"

In her first interview since the release of her book earlier this month, "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen," Powell spoke with ESPN's "Outside the Lines," part of which was aired on the ABC morning show and all day on the sports network. Powell said that the coach had to be aware of some of 22 shows she alleges that former staffer Andre McGee paid her for that took place in Billy Minardi Hall from 2010-14.

Former Cardinals recruit JaQuan Lyle, now an Ohio State freshman, has confirmed the "gist of allegations" detailed in Powell's book during a meeting earlier this month with the NCAA, CBS Sports reported. OSU confirmed that Lyle spoke with the NCAA.

Powell alleges that McGee, who played for Louisville before becoming a graduate assistant coach and director of men's basketball operations, paid her $10,000 for the 22 shows. The dancers included Powell, her three daughters and other women, according to the book.

"Andre would come to me and tell me what girl the recruit wanted," Powell said Tuesday morning in the broadcast of the ESPN interview, "and I would tell the girl. She would say her price, I would tell him, he would say, 'OK', give me the money. That was just it.

IMO, he knew and he will be gone is a short period of time. At the very least, he should have known. I just can't imagine the University of Looserville will keep him after this. I wonder if some other college will hire him if he is let go or "retires".

John Clay of the Herald Leader said it best. It was his job to know. If he didn't know he wasn't doing his job. Therefore I would say he is on his way out. Sanctions?? I would say that there is a possibility that they could get the death penalty up to including no playing or practicing for a year. May not be that strict but at least ban them from TV for a year. Naturally recruiting will take a big hit, numbers, off campus, etc

I am no Louisville fan but you have to feel sorry for the program which Pitino has ruined and Jurich has tried to cover it up. They need to start over and clean house by getting some new blood into the athletic department immediately.

Bama, I too read that nice John Clay article and he was spot on. Pitino will be a liability to U of L in the future if they decide to keep him on as their head coach. I am glad we are not doing this kind of thing at UK, I want to win but I want to do it with a big name coach like we have who can recruit without such antics. I think all UK fans would certainly hold coach Cal responsible if this happened to us, after all, that is what the head coach is paid so much for, to know his program from one end to the other. I saw the interview with this woman on ABC and she said they got paid 500.00 to have sex with the recruits. She did not come across like a nut case in the interview either. To admit that you are a madam using your own daughters in your business is pretty appalling to say the least.

I have had heard other people weigh in on Pitino and they think that his fate rests with big money boosters. if the big money says keep him, they will. If the big money says clean house, Pitino will be fired for lack of institutional control and they will seek to keep from paying him a severance package.

Since he weather the whole Porcini's scandal, which didn't include NCAA sanctions, I see Pitino weathering this storm. As with the chick that got the abortion and who got thrown in prison for extortion, I see Pitino portraying himself once again as the victim in the situation.

Poor Rick, how could he be so betrayed?

By the way, if Calipari got a ticket for jaywalking, I can see a portion of UK fans calling for his removal. Yes sir, there is a certain segment of the UK fan base, be it ever so small, that always has to raise its voice in righteous indignation no matter what comes to light. I am sure that those people are as pure as the driven snow. They have to be. to be so condescending.
