The Kentucky fans are tough to beat and they help make Kentucky basketball the best program in the country.
Karl Towns Sr. knew University of Kentucky fans would show up to see his son, Karl-Anthony, at a private meet-and-greet recently.
But the elder Towns got a kick out of it when fans started coming over and chatting him up, saying they’d read about him online and asking him to take selfies.
Only among the Big Blue Nation would a player’s parent be as much of a celebrity as the player himself, he laughed.
“I told people it’s surreal,” Towns Sr. told the Daily News. “You don’t understand until you see this kind of event what kind of effect you’ve had on the community.
“It’s unbelievable how much they’re engaged in these kids and how much they appreciate everything they did throughout the year. I’m very impressed.”
