Congrats to UK Hoops star Makayla Epps, who was named SportsCenter’s Star of the Night after her thrilling 42-point performance and game winning basket in Kentucky’s double overtime win over #13 Mississippi State last night. Epps scored 15 of UK’s 18 points in the two overtime periods and became only the second player in the SEC in the last five years to score more than 40 points in a game. The other? Teammate Jen O’Neil, who scored 43 points vs. Baylor in a 4OT thriller last year.

Epps’ buzzer beater was also #10 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays of the Day. Let’s watch it again:

I watched it too, have been watching the ladies games for year, they are fun to watch and Epps had quite a game. I saw her featured on Sports Center this morning. She definitely won that game for them almost single handedly. She wears number 25, the same number her dad wore at UK. She is 5'10 inches tall which is good sized for a point guard. She was going to go to U of L until Mitchell finally offered her a scholarship and she decommitted to U of L and came to UK.

You don't see many games like that she was great the whole game.

The good thing is she has a lot more good games in her.

Two more years at Kentucky and she will have some staggering stats.

I can see Makayla as going down as one of Kentucky's best players ever and will set some records that will be hard to beat.

Mitchell will have to continue to surround her with talented players to draw some of the attention away from her though!

I'm hoping this 6'6 girl they have on the bench pans out for us as we really are missing some size this year!

If this 6'6" girl is sitting on the bench it's probably for a good reason. I think we have a better chance of getting better by recruiting.

We are going to be losing 4 of our better players this year which is going to hurt a lot. Bishop, Goss, Sydney, and O'Neil.

That is really going to be hard to over come and next year will be a building year for sure.

Their will be a lot of minutes open minutes for next years team and that could be a good recruiting tool for some of the better recruits!

The 6'6 girl is a Slovakian transfer from Murray state!

Thompson and Goodin Rogers are a couple more LAdies that see a lot of action for our current cats who will return for next year!

We should still havde a pretty solid team next year, if memory serves me, Mitchell has signed yet another McD's AA player again this season

Epps sure didn't play good today!

I better clarify that, Epps did have 13 points but was not near as dominant on both sides of the ball.

Goodwin Rogers only got 4 minutes of playing time today.
