It was reported in the Louisville Courier Journal that friend and former assistent Ralph Willard will decide by Wednesday whether or not he will join old boss Rick Pitino at Louisville.

This has ceated some interesting chatter here about whether Willard may be coming in as "interim" coach while Pitino gets his mess straightened out. Having been at Holy Cross for several years (Willard's alma mater), been to the Big Dance four straight years, and an outstanding recruiting class coming in, one wonders. Hmmmm. Louisville fans nervous.

How about that? They need a UK coach to lead them, and then they need a WKU coach to help him. [Big Grin]

The Afternoon Underdogs were really spinning this. They look at this as a great hire and great move forward with an asst. with experience.

I look at it as Pitino taking a giant leap back from being the legendary coach of the '90s. Since when does Rick Pitino need help from someone with experience?

Also, Willard has been trying to get out of Holy Cross for years. He even expressed interest in returning to WKU way back when Felton left.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pitino took the season off to handle his off the court problems and Willard will take over.

If he goes on a hiatus, he won't get it back
...Let's not forget that he tried to go back to UK after he failed as gm/coach at Boston.
