Hard to choose just 5 IMO especially since I never personally saw greats like Issel, Spivey, Riley, Nash, Beard, etc play.

Top 5 that I have personally watched at UK:

1. Jamal Mashburn
2. Kenny Walker
3. Tayshaun Prince
4. Tony Delk

My surprise pick

5. Chuck Hayes (The only player in the history of the SEC with the following stats: 1,000 points scored, 900 Rebounds, 250 Assist, 150 Steals, and 125 Blocks)

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

Bluecat ... now that is a great top 5. I believe Cawood was just as big as what Wild Bill was. I hope he is never forgotten.

I wouldn't put Calipari on that list just yet. I know we are all excited and all but this list is for people who truly have the Blue spirit and lets say at least they have 3 or more years with the program NOT 3 days. Go Big Blue!!

It would be difficult to compare players from different eras. Because of my age, I didn't start keeping up with the Cats until the Joe Hall era. I am sure there are many great players from Rupp's years of coaching, but I haven't even seen any old game films of them, just a few clips here and there. But, UK had many players who were the top talent of their time.

I can only go back to the mid 80's because of my age.Trying to pick 5 of the best boys who played at Uk is like trying to eat just 1 potato chip.It can't be done LOL.

Only had him for one season, but I'd certainly consider putting Chris Mills on a top ten list...

I only know what I have read about the team pre-Pitino. So, here is the team I'd put on the court if I had to win one game:

PG - Turner
SG - Mercer
SF - Hayes
PF - Mashburn
C - Patterson

I like what Turner, Hayes and Patterson would get me without having to score a lot of points.

If I had to pick a team of favorite players, they would be:

Epps
Farmer
Mashburn
Prince
Prickett

PF Dan Issel

Guys...unless I missed it, you're forgetting Cotton Nash. He was a 3 time consensus ALL-AMERICAN.

Cotton along with Ted Deaken(sic) were a great 1-2 punch for us. Ted and Cotton had a falling out over Cotton dating Ted g/f if I remember correctly but still played well together!!

Really hard comparison to make.

I considred replacing Meeks with Nash. However, Nash was not a shooting Guard and Iwent for the best player in each position. [Smile]

Nash has to be on the top 5. So does Issel. That leaves only 3 'modern' era players for me to add.

First five:
Sky Walker -- PF -- Most dominating player at that position that I have ever seen short of The Round Mound of Rebound
Cotton Nash -- SF -- Best kentucky player ever?
"Big Dan" Issel -- C -- Who else?
Jodie Meeks -- SG -- Record-holder.
Kyle Macy -- PG -- A legend.

Second five:
Chuck Hayes -- PF -- Too much heart, too many records.
Jamal Mashburn -- SF -- Smooth, innovative player
Sam Bowie -- C -- Wonder what he might have done if he wasn't injured so frequently?
Louie Dampier -- SG -- Lights out!
Rajon Rondo -- PG -- The most talented PG I have seen in a UK uniform

It's hard to pick an all time best list. Maybe I could do an all-time best list from the year I was born until now, but I wasn't around to see Issel or Nash play so I just have to go by what I hear and read.

Maybe someone could do an all-decade team and then compare them to other decades.
