Rough start so far, although I am glad to see Carter score!

Porter getting more aggressive. Nice 3; nice TO forced.

Great to see Harris shooting as well early.

Porter playing the 2 Galloway at the point Meeks is out

Mille and Porter, both hitting, has to free up PP and Meeks. Great to see Carter start.

Just started listening. TV here in Alabama has the Florida/Miss State game on instead of KY/GA.

And I just canceled my DirecTV sports pack which would have let ne see the game on one of the Fox SS stations.

Oh well, I'll just listen today. Glad to hear the Cats hitting some threes by someone not named Meeks.

Hipley, I wish I were in Huntsille instead of B'Ham.

Radio said Meeks was tired was the reason he wasn't in the game.

Maybe he needs to take a practice or two off to keep his legs fresh.

Harrelson looks like he has an extra pep in his step tonight. I think coach's message about playing hard is showing an impact.

Our offense has gone in the tank all of a sudden.

Clyde is a defense guy, and me also. Offense will come.

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 03-04-2009, 07:39 PM:

We are as usual giving up too many threes to GA. Without an inside presence, why can't we guard thier 3-pt shot better?

It baffles me how other teams shoot so well in Rupp arean. I think it's because they are juiced up by the 23K+ crowd.

Posted by Hipley (Member # 1877) on 03-04-2009, 07:39 PM:

WOW, glad Clyde remembered he has timeouts to use.

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 03-04-2009, 07:40 PM:

Why does G bother to even put Liggins in if he's going to pull him the first time he throws it away?

Agreed on the visiting teams shooting so well. Amazing statistic

Seems like Meeks is struggling lately with his shot. Hope he breaks out of the "mini-slump".

I think Miller is the guy who has to step up in Meeks absence.

Posted by Hipley (Member # 1877) on 03-04-2009, 07:43 PM:

I LIKE MILLER. This year and for the next three years.

Meeks is forcing tonight

Woodbury is fantastic tonight. [Frown]

Fortunately, Porter is playing well. Keeping us close. Great to see more from him.

This is the worst game I can remember this year from Meeks.

Meeks just got drilled...and no call.

Remarkable no call on Meeks' drive. He was hammered.

Great way to close the half! Great D, some big points. Takes away some of UGA's momentum.

Great to have a lead at the half. I WANNA shot this shot

Posted by Max Beasley (Member # 1320) on 03-04-2009, 08:00 PM:

We gave up only 45 to them for the entire game when we played in Ga. You would think when Harris and Porter combine for 20 points in a half we'd be in better shape than what we are. Come out 2nd half and go right at Thompkins and lock up Woodberry and we win in a route. Stevenson needs to contribute a little more.

Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 03-04-2009, 08:03 PM:

Meeks seems to have lost his defensive intensity lately. He sat out early after letting Woodbury get the first 9 points for Ga. Woodbury averages 13 points per game and has 21 in the first half against Meeks and whoever else coach has been trying on him. Is it just me or has this team gotten worse defensively as the season has gone on. They just can't seem to get too many defensive stops and Patterson sure is getting a lot of his shots blocked on the offensive end of the floor the last few games.

He seems to be gambling a lot lately. Hopefully he will have a much better second half. That was a very rough half for him.

Agreed msgs were sent earlier this year. Clyde is for sure different.

Ky 18-18 free throws

This game is a classic 'trap' game, and UK seems to be fallin' in it.

I like the spark that the starters brought with them, but even so, they can't put any distance between them and the dogs.

The tempo is, ummm, unexpected for this game...

Porter is player of the break so far other than his layups (or lack thereof).

Our two "stars" are stinking things up tonight.

Is Meeks regressing? Can Patterson hit a shot in close?

We're down 8 with 8 to go and in BIG TROUBLE.

UGA 77% of 3pt shots. Wow! [Eek!]

Shoe,

UK has trapped themselves by looking ahead. Everybody assumed Georgia was done for the year, and this would be an easy win (witness the 20 point line for the game!).

10 point down, 5 minutes to go.

Gut check time, season-ending edition.

Good question but there is no question these guys were expecting a pushover game for Senior Night after their easy win in Athens. It is time to strengthen the D, get some baskets and save this season.

Shoe,

Beats me how this team could overlook a middle school matchup.

This has been a frustrating year for all of us. I cannot imagine how it feels for the players and coaches!

74-64 GA with 6+ minutes to go.

The game Sunday with Florida won't matter if we lose this one. Neither will the SEC tournament because this team is on a slide. I don't see how we could expect them to win 4 games in a row in the SECT. We're just not playing well at all.

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 03-04-2009, 08:49 PM:

Meeks has fouled twice in the last 3 trips to put Georgia on the line.

Lucky Ware missed one this time!

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 03-04-2009, 08:52 PM:

No one can guard Ware without fouling him.

I'm afraid we're not going to pull this one out the way we're playing.

Ware only shoots 65% from the line. He should miss some of these.

Georgia was waiting for that dish to Patterson -- he was ALREADY double-teamed before the pass.

Galloway needed to take that one straight to the rim. Ouch.

6 points down, 2 minutes to go.

Hope Jackson cannot convert on the foul.

Great 3 by Meeks, down 3. Good "D" by Miller, now Georgia has to inbounds with 3 seconds on the shot clock.

Lets get a stop!

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 03-04-2009, 09:02 PM:

How can Porter shoot an air ball after just making a basket? That would have tied it up and instead we are now down 5 with 1:04 left.

Posted by ukman (Member # 3032) on 03-04-2009, 09:06 PM:

We are the dumbest team in america. when you're down 3 with 57 seconds left you don't have to jack up a 3. Get the ball inside or attack the basket. Porters was a bad shot and Meeks was. Drive to the basket and get the 2.

This has been a horrible season.

Let the TCD meltdown begin.

Posted by Tiptree (Member # 844) on 03-04-2009, 09:15 PM:

Ugh.

Actually, Kentucky played pretty well -- in spurts. Hats off to Georgia, the latest in a long line of undistinguished teams to knock of Kentucky in Rupp Arena.

74% from the arc will carry you a long, long way.

Remember when teams would wilt in Rupp Arena?. Now, they blossom here...

They're exhausted. He has worn them out with his lack of substitutions, equaling too many minutes for key players, along with his game day practices, pushing too hard in practice and boot camp. his defensive system has them constantly fighting through screens. His lack of picks for Meeks has him constantly running with people hanging on him. His lack of an offensive system has Patterson constantly trying to put up a shot with three even four people leaning on him. One of the reasons teams shoot so well from 3 pt land is because we don't have the energy to defend it.

His 2nd half 'psychology experiment' dug too big of a hole for them to overcome and they didn't have the energy to overcome it.

Meeks doesn't have his legs anymore and that is why he is coming up short on so many of his threes. He was gasping for air on numerous occasions in the second half. When is the last time Perry Stevenson blocked a shot? His jump is not nearly as quick or as high as it was earlier in the season. Patterson is getting blocked more often in the latter part of the season. They cannot sustain any intensity on defense or offense for any length of time because they are exhausted. That is whay they came screaming back against LSU and lost it, why they came screaming back on Georgia and lost it.

He has pushed them too hard. All he has done is push them and tell them to play harder. This man is not the psychologist he thinks he is. He has ruined this season with his mind games and lack of strategy.

He is creating all sorts of records. The 3rd longest NCAA tourney streak is about to come to an end. We have lost more home games than in quite some time. Swept by USC... the list goes on.

Ky just doesn't seem to have a basketball head. What a year to lose at home this much. The jury is still out on BCG, but next year they will come back in and give their verdict. I am going to wait and give coach a chance. Some of this stuff has to be attibuted to the coaching. Ky can't hit a bull in the butt with a base fiddle.

I was the maddest during that "experiment" that I have been since Laettner stomped on Aminu Timberlake's chest and didn't get thrown out of the game. Therefore, I was the second angriest I have ever been, watching Kentucky basketball.

I think this experiment with him as coach needs to be over! I was even more mad than the Laetner stomp because this is our own coach killing us. He is supposed to be leading us back.

I have the concerns that bigbluerev has about UK's lack of energy. I think BCG has run them into the ground.

bigbluerev hit the nail on the head. This team is exhausted!! With the full speed game day practices, they are basically playing two games. So this was our 60th game this year.

Posted by ukman (Member # 3032) on 03-04-2009, 10:01 PM:

Do we know for sure they are having full practices on game days? That would explain alot, and cement my thoughts that this guy is awful.
