Wayne Turner's NCAA championship ring for sale on Ebay.....

I would be willing to donate money and help buy it and give it to the UK Basketball museum if we could get enough of us members of TCD to do it. I hate to see some one buy it for their own collection. That ring deserves to be Wayne's or the UK basketball program...

I wonder what got him into such dire straits?

Tiptree, that is a good question. I have heard he is living in New Zealand. It is a real sad situation..

He isn't playing basketball no where???? That is sad in itself. I really thought he was definately good enough to play point for a team across seas. [Frown]

Wayne played for the New Zealand Breakers for the 2006-2007 season but is not playing for them now.

Let's see. Didn't he have fours years to get a free degree at UK? Degrees usually help you land a nice job where you can live a nice life. Sad? Yes. Wayne will always be a special person to me, just like most everyone who played for UK, but there will be no sympathy from me here.

And Wayne probably sold this ring a long time ago. I'm sure it's a collector selling this.

I had forgot that he was on the team during 1996-98. That means he had 2 championship rings, almost a third in 97. He has probably only sold this one and still has the 1996 ring. I don't know this for a fact but I would say he valued the 1996 ring more and has kept it.
