It was last season, Tom Leach was talking with OTS on Big Blue Line. Tom was making reference to WHY UK could not seem to rebound the ball well, time and again the players let opponents get 2nd and 3rd opportunities to score on offense.
Tubby replied to Leach (rsther uncharachter like), "You see them Tom, they're just weak, they don't like getting after it!"....
What did Tubby know that the rest of us didn't?,
Many times last season many of us complained about the team, some called them "uncoacable".
Mind you that team had a 6-11 center along with Perry, Orbzut and thomas. Also Bradley, Crawford, Meeks and Jasper, ALL HEALTHY! still they LOST TWELVE games.
What upsets most fans IMO is the UK program including fanbase had grown to "expect" losing double-digit games under OTS.
Along come a new man in town after Tubby took his ball and ran out the door. Results?, after eleven games, still losing, still in the same mindset the previous coach had left us with.
I believe in this coach and KNOW in my heart and mind that he is going to get the job done
Players back, but not 100%, now they each have to learn how to play together as a unit.
Have patience, it will come..........

I might be able to believe in him also if I had any clue as to what he was trying to do with the players he has on the team, but, like John Clay in the Lexington Herald Leader this morning, there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for many of his moves or non-moves. You begin to wonder if he knows what he is doing. [ 12-30-2007, 09:49 AM: Message edited by: bayer ]

And you also wonder about what you know he is doing--like these moronic practices on game day. It looks to me that BCG has had a plan since he was hired, it is failing and he is failing (or just to arrogant and stubborn) to adapt.

Or--and here's a thought--he's telling the players either to get tough and be MEN, and get things right during NORMAL practices, and until they do he'll run game-day practices.....hmm, that's an interesting thought!
What he's done worked at TAMU obviously--look at their success the last two years (tourney too), and their continued success. Maybe he has talented players who don't want to work, kids who are willing to work hard but aren't talented, and then Jodie Meeks/Derrick Jasper (two who will work hard and are talented, but are hurt) and Patterson (who is both, but healthy).
Amazing how when you go into the military, you go in a rough piece of coal....and you get turned into a diamond, a finely tuned soldier. Maybe BCG is trying to break these guys down to instill CHARACTER into them, and make them realize that nothing comes easy in this world, and you have to be TOUGH, you have to learn how to man up and REBOUND....seems to me these guys aren't practicing ENOUGH!!!

And Matt Doherty had success at Notre Dame and he blew up at UNC. This is what I am starting to think is happening to BCG.

For forty-two seasons, most UK players hated Adolph Rupp, but they all held him in respect as a person and what he was able to acheive.

I'm not sure we are there, but it is a possibility.
-------------------- Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

And, in most cases, they did what they were asked/told to do. Those who didn't were gone and replaced with other players. But, as many have pointed out over the years, Coach Rupp coached in an entirely different era than today. You could get away with things then that you cannot even think about today.
But, I will make one bold hypothetical statement, if Coach Rupp had been coaching Joe Crawford, JC would not have been allowed back on the team and Ramel Bradley would be long gone.
