Thats what Gillispie spends each day thinking of his passion, basketball.

If Billy Gillispie could, he would spend every day doing something basketball related.

"I have a passion for basketball. I like to do just about anything, but I don't get into a whole lot of things other than basketball. I like watching the horses run. I love that, but I don't take a lot of time to do that," the University of Kentucky coach said.

"Basketball is my passion. It is also my job, but it is my passion as well. I spend about 23 hours and 50 minutes every day thinking about my passion. I love that, and don't see that ever changing."

Gillispie will occasionally do something that is not basketball related, but not often.

"I like to golf. I am not any good at it, but I like to golf," he said. "I don't do any fishing. If I did, I am sure I would enjoy it, though."

He says it "loves a little bit of everything" when it comes to music.

I wouldn't say I am any kind of music fan, but I love a little bit of everything that is out there," Gillispie said.

That includes liking Montgomery Gentry. He recently had a chance to briefly meet Perryville's Eddie Montgomery when the two were on the same flight.

"I walked onto to the plane and he had a Kentucky basketball shirt on, which people tell me is not unusual," Gillispie said. "He hollered at me and I hollered at him.

"He was in first class and I was going back to coach. We had a nice, short conversation and then I sat by one of his band members on the flight. It's pretty cool that he is such a big Kentucky basketball fan."

We will never be able to complain about this Coach being disinterested.

I wonder what he does for the other 10 minutes? Since there is no Mrs. Gillispie...hmmm

Maybe it's the daily constitutional. It's kind of hard to concentrate on basketball when your pinching off a loaf...

I'm not sure who said this:
quote:
“Life is all about timing ... the unreachable becomes reachable, the unavailable become available, the unattainable... attainable. Have the patience, wait it out It's all about timing .”
Neither am I sure whom to give credit but if there was ever a match made in heaven, if there ever was one person perfect for one situation, one circumstance earning the perfect ingredient, Billy Clyde Gillispie at the University of Kentucky seems to be it. It will be interesting and fun as fate plays out.

prophet-I have never wished more that you are right about anything than I do about this, for Coach G's sake and for UK's sake.

As optimistic as I am about the future of UK basketball, there are still those lingering doubts and visions of Eddie Sutton in my mind. I only hope there is someone "watching over" (literally and figuratively) Coach G as he continues this journey.
