This article is mostly about Billy D but he states some things that Kentucky fans are going to like to hear..This is what he says:

Florida? The Gators are in the SEC, which is about to become brutal again. The SEC's not the slumping giant it was four years ago when Donovan was amassing the talent that would win two straight NCAA championships. Underachieving Tubby Smith has left Kentucky, bequeathing one of the top jobs in basketball to Billy Gillispie -- who is going to win huge at Kentucky. He won't just win there, or win big there. Huge.

A very well thought out article. I think Donovan might be a little stronger than the coaches referenced because he does have back to back National titles behind his name. It is tough to make comparisons like that but does give one something to ponder. I have stated over and over again that Kentucky basketball will do much better over the next ten years than the Florida program will. I see Florida as being a decent team next season but finishing no better than fourth in the SEC East.

Billy D stated he doesn't have the passion for recruiting anymore. The air went out of the Florida program's balloon when he left and it didn't reinflate just because he returned. It will take a huge effort to overcome the total loss of program momentum. Billy burned a few bridges with the NBA, some Gator fans but also two other REAL IMPORTANT groups:

(1) He lost a huge amount of credibility with a bunch of future recruits he had been working. Its not just that he lied to them about jumping to the NBA but his duplicity casts a big question mark on pretty much every assurance he gave them. Even if it comes to light that the NBA has barred him for 5 years, his actions have framed his character in the minds of recruits and their families. And 5 years is not enough.

(2) Donovan was only taking Florida assistant Larry Shyatt with him to the Magic. How do Rob Lanier and Lewis Preston feel about their boss? Particularly Lanier, he joined Billy's staff on May 23 to replace Donnie Jones who went to Marshall last April. It's going to be real tough for Lanier and Prestion to give the loyalty and 130% effort necessary to produce the recruiting results the Gators are going to need to maintain the elite status of their program.

"Why would Florida take him (Billy D)back?

Is this guy for real? LOL. The question is more like WHY would Florida NOT take him back?
Lets see....why would Florida take him back....could it be, say TWO NCAA TITLES BACK TO BACK? This guy needs to get real!
