The Kentucky Wildcats are getting set to start their run in the 2021 SEC Tournament on Thursday.
However, a lot of the talk among the BBN recently has been who is going to come back for another season, and who is on their way to the NBA Draft.
ESPN has released an updated 2021 NBA Draft ranking, and they only have two Kentucky players getting picked.
Isaiah Jackson has seen his draft stock soar this season and he is now ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony broke down the strengths and weaknesses of Jackson:
Strengths
· Elite physical profile at 6-11 with a 9-5 standing reach. One of the best athletes in the college game in terms of his ability to run the floor and get off his feet quickly for dunks and blocks. Covers ground exceptionally well thanks to his coordination and agility.
· Difference-maker defensively thanks to the elite timing he displays as a rim protector. Also, an excellent rebounder.
· Shows significant flashes offensively with his ability to handle, pass and shoot the ball. Still at a very early stage offensively but has good hands, soft touch, and upside.
Areas of Improvement:
· Weighed just 206 pounds at the Kentucky pro day. Lack of strength, especially in the lower body, can get taken advantage of on both ends of the floor.
· Does incredible things defensively but isn’t consistent enough with his fundamentals or approach. Falls asleep at times. Needs to improve his technique and maintain his intensity level off the ball. Struggles to defend perimeter players in space.
· Not a prolific or efficient scorer at this stage. Can be mistake-prone, as his decision-making is a work in progress. Doesn’t always know his limitations.
BJ Boston was the other Cats projected to go in the draft, as he came in at No. 34 overall. This is the first time that Boston has been knocked out of the first round in ESPN’s projections.
The only other player to make ESPN’s top 100 list was Terrence Clarke, but he was No. 62 overall, which isn’t in the 60-pick draft.
Davion Mintz, Olivier Sarr, Keion Brooks Jr., Jacob Toppin, Dontaie Allen, Devin Askew, Lance Ware, Cam’Ron Fletcher and Oscar Tshiebwe did not crack ESPN’s updated list.
When you factor in just how far Boston and Clarke have fallen in the rankings, this roster is full of players that have decisions to make after the season.

I sure wish Isiah Jackson would come back for his sophomore year.

If he is ranked 8th prospect he has to go but agree it would be fantastic to have him back for another season.
