The surprises continue for John Calipari and the Kentucky coaching staff in their efforts to add pieces to the 2020-21 roster.
As UK continues to reach out to potential frontcourt targets, the school has reportedly reached out to yet another guard in the transfer portal.
According to 247Sports, Kentucky has contacted Miami (OH) guard Nike Sibande, a 6-foot-4, 183-pound senior originally out of Indianapolis, IN.
Last season with the Redhawks, Sibande averaged 13.9 points on 44% shooting to go with 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 28.8 minutes per game just a year after averaging 16.1 points (39.4% shooting), 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists the year before. He also shot 34% from three in three seasons.
As a traditional transfer, Sibande would have to sit out next season unless the NCAA passes a one-time immediate transfer waiver in the coming weeks. Either way, 247Sports reports that the Miami guard is contemplating a redshirt year to develop his game before returning to the floor in 2021-22.
Should he decide to sign with Kentucky, he would join guards Devin Askew, BJ Boston, Terrence Clarke, and Davion Mintz in the backcourt, adding a veteran presence to the practice floor and in the locker room.
