Huntley-Hatfield

Brandon Huntley-Hatfield — a top-10 basketball recruit nationally — earned a scholarship offer from Kentucky on Tuesday, just a few days after meeting with UK Coach John Calipari.

Though Huntley-Hatfield is currently listed as a member of the 2022 class, he was previously in the 2021 class and is expected to ultimately head back to that group. 247Sports ranks the Clarksville, Tenn. native as the No. 6 overall player in the 2022 class.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward plays his high school ball for national powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida.

Huntley-Hatfield took an official visit to Ole Miss earlier this month and is expected to be on Memphis’ campus in a couple of weeks. Kentucky will host him for a visit on Dec. 28, the date of the annual UK-Louisville rivalry game.

He told the Herald-Leader recently that UK was his dream school growing up and that former Kentucky forward Alex Poythress is his grandmother’s godson. The former Wildcat has been a mentor of sorts for Huntley-Hatfield, who comes from the same hometown as Poythress.

247Sports national analyst Evan Daniels regards Huntley-Hatfield as one of the best young forwards in the country.

“He’s got some pretty impressive physical tools,” said Daniels told the Herald-Leader. “He’s already a strong kid with a developed frame. But he’s also a good athlete. He rim-runs. He’s versatile. This is a guy that I think could be a really good rebounder. He’s effective offensively — not only around the basket, but he also has the ability to step out on the floor and make catch-and-shoot jump shots.”
