Looking at film, he looks like a taller but slower Tyrese Maxey.

Very quick release on the outside shot. At Illinois State he was also able to get to the rim. I think his ability to create and get off his shot on the perimeter will translate well to Kentucky, but I am not sure he will be as effective at getting to the rim against better competition.

My daughter attended I’ll State and I know little to nothing about their basketball program or him in particular. I do know the level of competition he will be playing against while at UK will be totally different that he has played against in the past.

I don’t follow players in the transfer portal but Cal has done a great job of judging that talent. OSCAR. Enough said about that.

He scored 20+ against Wisconsin in a 4 point loss. That’s pretty good production against stout competition. I’m not overly concerned about his offense, I hope he can play defense.

He's a 3-star recruit who will be playing a one-on-one offense where he has to create his own shots. Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up.

I find this all amusing. When we have players that can make their own shot, we complain that we don't run the "right" offense and instead play "street ball". When we DON'T have players that can create their own shot, we complain about that.

When we recruit 5-star players, we bemoan the 1-and-done system. When we recruit lower-ranked players, we wonder why they aren't all 5-stars.

What will make us happy?

We have top-10 guard Casson Wallace and top-10 small forward Chris Livingston coming in. With their high status and Cal's history, they'll play a ton of minutes no matter what. And Oscar is a given to play 35+ minutes per game. We have Wheeler running the point and CJ Fredrick coming back from injury. That doesn't leave a whole lot of playing time for others. If Reeves isn't an NBA talent, he'll sit the bench and Cal will forget about him. The way I see it, either Reeves or Fredrick will be the odd man out.

It's gonna be interesting to see how Cal coaches this team.

Cal is capable of playing more than his normal seven-ish rotation. Remember the platoon system he had several years back? It didn’t work out that well IMO and I’m not suggesting this would be the team to try something like that with. I’m just hoping he will get more of his players involved in meaningful game situations.

I think we have lost some quality players because of Cal’s inclination to not play more of his bench. Then again, there is a very slight chance that Cal knows more about this than yours truly.

Looks like he's ONLY won 1 more championship than you or me since he got here. That's either saying a lot or not much at all, whichever way you look at it.

I watched a video of him and it looks like he can shake and bake with the best of them. I'm sure Cal liked the way he does the dribble drive to the basket.

Seems like he could be a player like Kellen Grady. Kellen was not just a spot up shooter at Davidson, but Cal just had him stand in corners for the most part. I hope this guy can be a big help, but more than anything I hope Cal can figure out how to best use the players he has, and is busy right now looking at new offensive sets. Seems like we could have a good makeup up of shooters and finishers. Just hope he can piece it all together and make the most of everyones strengths. We need to see a deep run in the tournament THIS year.
