web page

This one works. I tried to fix the first one, but couldn't figure it out. I'm blaming it on old age!

That was an excellent article. Definitely recommend reading it. It takes a lot of different threads and pulls them together.

Tip I couldn’t agree more. After the loss, I was mad and confused. I’ve been a big super Cal. But after the game I was ready for something to change. This article brought me back to center, with these thoughts.

Cal is responsible. Cal should be held accountable. We as fans should be patient and reasonable. But we are also aloud to speak up and demand change. Cal is not and should not be untouchable. And his performance should improve over the next couple seasons or we should expect Mitch to make the changes necessary.

This is nothing more than the same situation our football program felt just 3 or 4 years ago. I wasn't expecting him to just up and retire tomorrow, or Mitch to fire him. This will be just like we heard a year ago from Cal. He's going to change and fix the problem. We got new coaches, picked up experienced players, and had supposed team players who cared for each other. But it seems the second half of the season we were not playing that well. We were just barely beating teams. We had not learned how to put teams away. This kind of play was not what Cal promised us as being "the gold standard of basketball".

Nope you are 100% correct. Cal needs to change his ways. The God awful weave offense. Not taking late game time outs. Out of bounds plays. His awful substitutions when a player makes one mistake. Honestly he might just have too many issues.

"The God awful weave offense. Not taking late game time outs. Out of bounds plays. "
______________________________________________

1. it is not a "weave" it is a "flex". Most schools run it - including High Schools.(my h.s. school runs it). The gist is using "space" and using "screens". It is for ur shooters to find the empty space by utilizing single and double screens and the shooter(s) not being predictable. Our shooters basically run from one side to the other, and cutting wide on their screens thus allowing the defender to easily follow him (see grady) . Good flex users run fast - we jog. As a fan and as a h s coach it is hard to watch and NO ONE coaching our team has a clue on how to make it run effective. (it is sort of like the dibble drive but supposed to be well like flexible. it is not.

2. OOB plays - how a elite college school can not have OOB plays is flat out STUPID. I would tell any coach that. My h.s. team runs 6/7 different oob plays in a 32 minute game. A college team with superior players is too stupid to learn a cpl ? This is all on the Head Coach and his staff.

Late game time outs: NOw this one is easy. COach is senile or hasnt a clue on what to call? Perhaps he should stop yelling during the game and maybe strategize as the game is winding down - maybe even a step or two ahead? 9 mil a year for a coach who believes it is the flex but really is a 20 yr old Umass offenses?

one more" he hasnt been to a FF since 15 and I am convinced in 12 we won because we had one best players who drug us over the finish line.

My prediction of us being no more than a sweet 16 team was right even generous as it turns out. Coach has now had one and done and experienced and has failed miserably with both.

HOwever in his mind (IMO) he has made a lot of players millionaires so he is fat and happy and content in his million dol home and gets to watch his "sons" perform in person whenever he wants.
Not to mention he is probably getting his son groomed to take over for him when he finally decides to "shun" the spotlight..

After rereading this - I am a little harsh and guess a little frustrated . Sorry but thought Cal was going to bring ff's(none since 15) and titles but that hasnt happened and doubt it will with Cal in charge because the University of Kentucky winning titles is NOT his main priority.
o
Is there anyone of you guys and gals who think that what we have done with out talent is satisfactory?

(u r speaking to an old fan who used to sit on the floor with his radio listening to UK games 65-70 yrs ago)

Exactly UKcatfannfl. We won in 2012 despite the poor game coaching, and there is no way he has done what he should have with the talent he has had. Time of him to go, but it won't happen for several more years.

Watch every other team that runs the weave/flex and you'll notice one obvious difference - they set screens while running it. It boggles my mind why Cal doesn't run plays that include setting a pick. That's basketball 101.

They're supposed to setting screens during thier weave but they don't either 1) use the screen, 2)Set a good screen 3)know how to cut and run off the screen!

All well said. Another fact is if not for one play at the end of the UNC game in 2012, by Davis, Cal would still be looking for his first NCAA championship. Oooops! Maybe my Prevagen is not helping me that much. I was referring to the block by Davis against UNC in the region final in 2011 to allow us to win.

Paul - I disagree somewhat as it doesnt "appear" we are setting screens but in fact we are. The bigs will attempt to set a screen but Grady et al run "wide" on every single one of them which in effect, appears we are not setting one or two or more..

Bama, for some reason I was thinking that was a regular season game in Rupp, but I could be mistaken too!

Iowa St. in 2nd round
IU in sweet 16,
Baylor in Elite 8
Louisville in final Four
Kansas for the championship!

They played UNC on Dec 3rd in Rupp!

I'm sure that is right because Davis was not around in 2011. I just remember how he skied to block that shot near the end of the game.
