Year two of the Mick Cronin era at UCLA received a nice boost on April 9 when Kentucky transfer Johnny Juzang announced his decision to transfer to the Bruins. On Wednesday, things got even better for Cronin and UCLA.

According to multiple reports, including first from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, a waiver has been approved for Juzang to be immediately eligible for the Bruins in 2020-21. In one year at Kentucky, the former four-star prospect played an average of just 12.3 minutes per game, averaging 2.9 points per game on 37.7 percent shooting. He also grabbed 1.9 rebounds per game. Juzang will have three years of eligibility left with the Bruins.

“We’re very excited that Johnny will be able to play for us next season,” Cronin said in a statement released by the UCLA Men’s Basketball Twitter account. “I’m grateful to Erin Adkins, our Associate Athletic Director in compliance, for all of her hard work in this process. Johnny is a talented player who can definitely make an impact for us.”

And we play UCLA next year. JJ might be in for a rude awakening.

Good for Juzang, but I will almost guarantee you that Sarr will not get a waiver to play for UK next year.

Which if that happens, I would like to hear the NCAA justifications in each case. Juzang left voluntarily, no coaching change, no nothing. Sarr will be leaving due to the firing of his head coach.

Trey, it sounds like you're expecting the NCAA to use actual logic. [Wink]

I'm just the opposite. I think it is cut and dried, Sarr will be approved. There is no way they can justify Juzang playing with no sit out time and Sarr not being able to play immediately. They are either getting weak in their direction when there is absolutely no reason to grant him playing time this season, or they are getting so brazen they are willing to have the whole country on their backs. Glad to see Juzang being able to play right away, cause that means Sarr will also play.

My first thought was this is great news because there is NO WAY the NCAA could not grant Sarr eligibility then. As stated above, Juzang left for no reason other than personal feelings. Sarr left due to the coach being fired. Should be cit and dry, but nothing will surprise me with the NCAA. There is no logic to anything they do, and reason is all over the place.

Until the rule is changed I think everyone should have to sit one year.

I can't remember his name or situation, but another big transfer was just granted immediate eligibility. I read it on ESPN or CBS but can't find the article. Even with this being said, I still think the chances of Sarr being eligible is 50/50.
