Hamidou Diallo has become the third member of Kentucky’s 2018 basketball team to declare for the NBA draft with plans to hire an agent. Diallo averaged averaged 10.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while starting all 37 games last season. Though Diallo struggled much of the season, the redshirt freshman saved his best performance for last with 22 points and eight rebounds against Buffalo in the NCAA Tournament. Diallo joins Kevin Knox and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as freshmen who are leaving for the NBA. Freshman PJ Washington is testing the NBA waters but has not hired an agent. It was no real surprise that Diallo opted for the NBA despite a so-so one season at Kentucky. After all, he had already been through the pre-draft combine last summer, wowing NBA personnel with a 44.5-inch vertical leap, the second highest ever recorded in combine history. Diallo made his announcement via Twitter with a message to the Kentucky fan base. “I would like to start off by thanking my family for always supporting and believing in me,” Diallo said. “Thank you to Coach Cal, the assistants and the staff for everything. You guys have pushed me to my limits and I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me. You’ve been honest with me from the start and always had my back. I can’t thank you enough. To my teammates, you guys are my brothers. You picked me up this season and helped me build my confidence when I needed it.

Diallo averaged 24.8 minutes of playing time per game, 10 points, 45.8% from the field, (33.8%) from the 3 point line and 61.1% from the line.

He could have a nice, long career in the G-league. Actually though, I think he'll end up oversees somewhere. Randolph Morris had a nice, long career in (I believe) China. I just can't see Hami ever setting foot on an NBA court.

Paul, hate to say but I think you are right and would have benefited staying another year or two playing college basketball.
