This week, one of the best transfers on the market in college football will be visiting Lexington and the Kentucky Wildcats.
According to Kentucky Sports Radio, Ole Miss transfer linebacker Jacquez Jones will be visiting Lexington on Tuesday. This report comes after Al.com reporter, Matt Zenitz reported that Kentucky was the leader for Jones, while schools such as South Carolina and UCLA are also in contention for arguably the top transfer available.
Jones was Ole Miss’ leader tackler last season with 75 stops and was tied for 18th in the SEC. In 2018, Jones played for Jon Sumrall before Sumrall left Oxford to come to Lexington.
The SEC intra-conference transfer rule is also no longer a factor, as now SEC athletes can transfer to another school in conference without the fear of having to sit out for one season.
The momentum seems to be trending in the Wildcats’ favor to land Jones, and Sumrall is almost certainly a major part of it. It also helps that Kentucky has produced a lot of NFL linebackers over the years, most recently 2021 first-round selection Jamin Davis to Washington.
Kentucky could have another key defensive piece added by this weekend if the visit goes smoothly.
