“We are thrilled to add Jacquez to our team,” UK head coach Mark Stoops said in a statement. “He’s an experienced playmaker who has been a great leader in our league.”

A native of Tuscaloosa, AL, the newest Wildcat was originally a three-star recruit in the class of 2018, ranked by the 247 Sports Composite as the No. 45 outside linebacker in America. The 6-0, 235-pound linebacker has surpassed 70 tackles in each of the last two seasons, leading the Rebels with 75 in the ten-game 2021 season.

With the SEC recently voting to overturn its intraconference transfer rule, Jones will be eligible to play right away for the Wildcats, a necessary addition to the program following Jamin Davis’ departure and D’Eryk Jackson’s season-ending Achilles injury back in April. A true senior this fall, the COVID-19 waiver could give him two years of eligibility.

“This is an addition that helps enhance the biggest strength of the Kentucky defense,” KSR’s own Adam Luckett said of the addition in his official breakdown of Jones’ commitment. “The Wildcats have a sturdy backbone with three seniors — nose tackle Marquan McCall, Will linebacker DeAndre Square, and safety Yusuf Corker — set to play major snaps this season. Jones adds to that by giving the defense a player that has played in 33 games with 182 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles in his career. … Kentucky will need to be creative with how their personnel is used this season, but Jones gives the program something that was lost when D’Eryk Jackson was injured during spring practice. A downhill thumper at Mike linebacker that can help stymie inside rushing attacks.”[/url]
