I copied this from Facebook but I did verify it. Not sure why I did as everything on Facebook is always true.
“Shell says it's 'appalled' by Putin's invasion but then buys 100,000 metric TONS of Russian crude oil. I'll not be getting gas at Shell stations for awhile.
Dutch oil giant Shell, which on Friday bought 100,000 metric tons of Russian crude oil at a discount, released a statement Saturday claiming to be 'appalled' by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The deal was the first major purchase of Russian crude oil since the invasion began on Feb. 24. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba responded to news of the purchase by asking Shell if the Russian oil they'd purchased smelled like Ukrainian blood. In its statement, Shell said it "didn't take this decision lightly" and that it made the deal in order to "assure continued provision of essential products to people across Europe."

By the way, I absolutely support our government not buying one damn ounce of crude oil from Russia. Not only is it morally wrong but we have plenty of our own. These are extraordinary times. Using a little common sense might be helpful. Something our political leaders are woefully short of. [ 03-08-2022, 07:40 AM: Message edited by: handycat ]
