Here I thought the stimulus package was to help our the people of OUR country in need. Once again our government uses a necessity of Americans to write a bill that gives more money to foreign lands than to American citizens!

135 Million to Burma
85.5 Million to Cambodia
1.4 Billion to "Asia Reassurance Initiative Act
130 Million to Nepal
1.3 Billion to Egypt
500 Million to Israel
250 Million to Palestinians
453 Million to Ukraine
10 Million to "gender Programs" in Pakistan
700 Million to Sudan

Odd number to Ukraine, It's probably a payoff for keeping quiet! Nothing to see here, nothing to see!

Meh, it is only about $5B or so in total. Hardly enough to even buy an election these days. Yeah, I know, I know. A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you are talking real money.

What I want to know is what is in it for ME? I mean, isn't that all that we are supposed to care about? What am I entitled to? Where is my piece of the pie?

[Roll Eyes]

I also hope Trump vetoes it, but it won't matter. Whatever ends up on his desk with have a bunch of crap it in like this. The problem lies in our congress, and we have chosen not to fix it.

That's just it, as far as I'm concerned I don't want or need any of it. But, I ALSO KNOW WHO'S GOING TO END UP PAYING FOR IT!!!

I'm curious to know when people in this world are going to realize that nothing in this world is free! Someone has to pay the bill!

Republicans have no backbone, no spine. The vast majority talk a good game, but their votes don't match.

All they are interested in is being re-elected.

Dems at least are bold and unified. I hate what they stand for, absolutely and with passion, but they know how to stand united and push their agenda.

Trouble is, their agenda will first cripple, and then destroy all that made this country great.

Tip I agree and I do not like the "Squad" at all but I do agree with them on the following. How can you be expected to vote on somehting you have never even read let alone studied ??? They had 2 hours to read 5,000+ pages and then vote on the stimulus package !!! The dems are even fighting over things now. Everyone is so gung ho on getting the free money out that they don't even care where it is going !!! They want peoples votes !!!

Shame on the people in those districts that elected such anti-American extremists as "the Squad". Shame, shame shame.

AOC would be a laughing stock, if she wasn't dead serious about her socialist views. But one must take her seriously, along with the other four "serious" clowns on the Squad.

Here's a lot of the pork that was thrown in. Disgraceful!!

$4 billion for New York’s MTA as part of bailouts for mass-transit systems.
$15 billion earmarked toward grant programs for live entertainment venues such as Broadway.
$7 billion toward expanding broadband access.
$1.4 billion for a construction of a wall on the southern US border.
A new law saying that violating copyright laws with unauthorized online streaming will become a felony punishable by five years in prison for first offenses and 10 years for repeat offensives. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) pushed the provision.
A rule saying the US Postal Service can no longer deliver e-cigarettes.
New museums on the National Mall that will focus on Latinos and women, which were pushed by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY).
A declaration condemning a possible role by the Chinese Communist Party in the selection of Tibet’s next Dalai Lama. The current Tibetan Buddhist religious leader is 85.
$500 million earmarked for Israeli defense purchases, including to equip the Iron Dome missile defense system.
$250 million over five years for Palestinian economic aid, which was pushed by New York Democratic Rep. Nita Lowey.
$101 million to combat “the transnational threat of wildlife poaching and trafficking.”
$2.5 million for “Internet freedom programs in closed societies”
$10 million for “gender programs” meant to help women get education and start businesses in Pakistan.

Look at the bright side. President Trump (from the office of the REAL president) called B.S., and threatened to veto it. They can't amend it, because it has already passed senate and house. They have to start over.

They can't amend it, but they can over-ride his veto. And political expediency will ensure that it happens.

He can do a "pocket veto". He can just put it in his pocket and leave it there. He has 10 days to either sign or veto it. Then it automatically becomes law, if he hasn't signed it, but NOT if congress has adjourned.

I was just told (I haven't looked it up) that item #17 is a raise for our wonderful representatives in Washington !!! If so they should be freaking fired on the spot. If this is correct I bet they will get more than the $600 they want to give us and they want us to bow down and thank them for it. First off they act like it is their money... it ain't, it is our money we have paid in taxes !!! Never should be theirs the way they take care of "our" money !!! Drain the damn swamp and put in term limits immediately !!!

But, but, but they've worked so hard these past couple of years. They've actually accomplished nothing since the midterms! And because of that they deserve to VOTE THEMSELVES a nice pay raise!

Given what kind of drivel they DO pass, I would be content to give them a raise if they promise to just go home and stay home. That would be a whole lot cheaper than some of the crap they want to spend money on.

Careful about being unhappy that congress doesn't do anything, MH. Once the dems get the house, the senate, and the presidency, you will DEFINITELY see them "do something". And most of us here will not like it.

In a government expressly designed to be both limited (what a quaint notion!) and adversarial, not much SHOULD be done. Only on issues that unite us should congress act. Unfortunately, it has become a steady beat of more government, more taxes, even more spending than taxes, and less liberty.

I’ll try to keep my anger in check about this ridiculous proposed $2000 stimulus check.

The ” Covid” relief bill” was passed in conjunction with “ the money to fund our government for the year.” This was done with the approval of our President. I have to assume that. His people were there representing him. Surely he is not naive enough to send people into negotiations without making his intentions clear?

That combo bill gives everybody the opportunity to point out how we waste our money every year. Then we can say look at these stupid (insert party of your choice) and try to say it is a stimulus or a Covid relief bill. I believe said stupid things are in there every year and would have been in there again this year, Covid relief bill or not. To be clear, I don’t like or agree with many of those items. I may be wrong about this but I don’t think so.

Wait for it, my rant begins.

The vast majority of individual Americans were not significantly finically impacted by The Pandemic. However, we are now going to give everybody two grand ( not $600), financially impacted or not, and disguise it as Covid relief.

That is not only politically motivated, that is socialism at its finest.

Mona and I have talked. We will divide the money received from this ridiculous proposal among our three grandchildren. After all, they are the ones who will have to pay it back and that seems only fair.

To give you some idea where I stand on this, here is a fact: We had six children in 10 years, and I was an E-4 in the Air Force most of that time. We were eligible for free school lunches, and Millie and I both flat out refused to accept them, or any other "hand-outs". They were our kids, and we insisted on feeding them ourselves. I worked one, and sometimes two, part time jobs to keep them fed and clothed. When we received the $2400 in the earlier Covid handout, we passed it on to our widowed daughter to help pay her credit card debt down. If we get another handout, we won't keep it either.

Norm, I’ve known you on here for many years and that does not surprise me at all.

What does surprise me is that so many Trump supporters believe him to be conservative.

If he’s a conservative, I’m a combination of Big Foot and Elvis. Except I’m bald.

I am sick of the whole mess in Washington. Trump isn't a true conservative, but he does understand that there are people who are economically devastated. Some by layoffs, but more by having their businesses closed down by despotic, power-happy governors.

A more targeted relief bill would be nice, but Trump also knows that he has no chance in hell of getting one passed. Fortunately, McConnel refused to allow the bill to pass without a vote. At least we can see where each senator stands.

The overwhelming debt floating around BEFORE COVID was a worry. Now it is devastating. I think this will definitely catapult the Chinese into the position of being the world's greatest economy, and once the US financial weakness is exposed, the worlds only superpower.

It seems the commies won after all. Our little flirtation with socialism is just icing on the cake for the Chinese. I fear my "golden years" will be anything but...

U.S. Dollar is well on it's way of not being the "World Currency". Once that happens we will see hyper-inflation kick in and maybe, just maybe then, the all of these people will finally realize what they have done, but it will be too late.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

So someone vandalized McConnell's house and painted "were's my money" on his front door. "were's my money" - there are too many uneducated morons in this world who think they're entitled to government handouts. It's just pathetic.
