The two people who have supposedly been chosen to lead our country the next 4 years. I say this because a letter from congress was sent out yesterday saying specifically that a President Elect has not been officially named. The next administration wants to pay $50,000 dollars off all student loans.

HAs anyone stopped to think how much money this truly is" I guarantee they haven't stopped to count the pennies.

There are currently 19.6 million college students currently in the US. If we just pay down the loans of current students that would be just a few billion short of a TRILLION DOLLARS!
This is only the students who are currently in school. WHat about the ones who've gotten out over the last 10-15 years. We're talking several TRILLION dollars for student loan reimbursement alone.

Whatever happened to work for what you have? I hear commercials about IRS help if you are in thousands of dollars debt, or credit card pay down. What's up with that? If you take your credit card out there and over spend your abilities then it should be on you! There used to be a thing called self discipline in this world! Is that a thing of the past now?

I finished medical school at UK in 1966 and finally paid off all my student loans in 1974. I was happy that I was able to pay them off and also glad when that obligation was gone. I do believe it is important for students to pay their obligations.

That is apparently no longer acceptable, MH. The American dream of a land of opportunity where work hard allowed anyone to improve their life has been replaced by a new "dream" of no work and living off the government's teat.

Free college, free health care, loan forgiveness, a government-guaranteed "living wage", all "paid for" by higher taxes on companies and "the rich" are the new dream. And, it would just be wrong to only give such largess to American citizens! Oh, no, we must have open borders and a foreign policy that ensures we are 'liked' by our superior European cousins! Come on, come all! The American dream is all about wealth redistribution and a nanny state!

When a party is building a "long term" base of voters "giving away" the store for power is a sure path for staying in power! If the Dems seize power in Jan of the senate it will be faster!

I paid over $80,000 for my son to go to Auburn, why shouldn't I be reimbursed. I'll take $50,000, thank you very much.
