So, to the satisfaction of many here, Sessions is now gone as the AG. His chief-of-staff has been elevated to be the interim AG. That guy has been 'hostile to the Mueller investigation', so now the left is really worried.

According to the 'news', the talk is that if the Mueller investigation is terminated, it would lead to a 'constitutional crisis'. The quote was "Above all else, the Mueller investigation must be protected". Really? Above all else?

That is purely a partisan perspective. As to a "constitutional crisis", I don't see how that is even plausible. The Justice Department is an executive agency, and the President can direct those agencies as he sees fit. It is perfectly withing the rights of the executive as specified by the constitution. It might spark a "legal crisis", and spawn a major legal challenge based upon conflict of interest, but I don't think this is a constitutional issue.

But, all that aside, it is amazing how each side is completely blind to the perspective of the other. The left is obsessed with the Mueller investigation, the right is quite sure that it is a political witch hunt with no grounds to continue. Personally, I think the whole concept of the "independent counsel" is due for a review. Once unleashed, these things cost taxpayers many millions of dollars and become a license to kill -- there are NO limits on what they can probe and look into. This is unique in American law enforcement, where investigations must be focused on an actual crime, and cannot just spread out until they find some dirt totally unrelated to the original case. I understand the need for an independent investigation when it relates to executive branch officials, but I think that proper limits need to be put in place. If Mueller has found no evidence of "collusion", the whole thing should be terminated. If they want to open a new accusation, they need to petition for a separate Independent Counsel.

Amen. My thoughts exactly. Where the Hell does Mister Schumer come up with "Constitutional crisis"?

Great insight Tiptree. Had not Sessions recused himself (which I think he should not have done}, we would not have a Russian Collusion investigation and millions of dollars spent for nothing. Collusion is not a crime from what I have heard so why have we spent a year and a half investigating it. The Justice Department need to get rid of Rod Rosenstein, he is not an honorable man in my opinion and is a cancer on the Justice department. Thank goodness they ask for Sessions resignation, he was a do nothing AG.

I see them letting the Mueller investigation run its course, don't see him getting overly involved in it. Surely to goodness they are finishing it up by now. I just read on somewhere that Mueller has started writing his report in reference to this investigation so hopefully this will all be behind us by the end of the year.
