Don’t look now, but former Kentucky guard Isaiah Briscoe is turning some heads in pre-draft workouts for NBA teams. One NBA source tells SEC Country that there has been a bit of recent buzz about the former McDonald’s All-American among scouts around the league.

Wildcats coach John Calipari has apparently been hearing the same.

“People are really impressed, more impressed with his shooting than a year ago,” he said Tuesday. “I think people are looking at him now and saying, ‘Wow, he is better than we thought.’ ”

Briscoe, a 6-foot-3 point guard who played mostly off the ball in two seasons at UK and averaged 12.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists as a sophomore, posted solid testing numbers and played well in 5-on-5 scrimmaging at the NBA Combine last month. Since then, he has worked out for the Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, Portland Trailblazers, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings.
