Shooting has been a consistent issue for Kentucky in recent years. They’ve typically had one reliable shooter (Quickley last year), then several guys who can hit threes but struggle to consistently do it.

Heading into the new season, it’s unclear who will be Kentucky’s top shooters, and Calipari’s comments seem to confirm that. Terrence Clarke, Devin Askew, Brandon Boston and Davion Mintz are capable of being good shooters, but three of those guys are freshmen who will have growing pains, and perhaps three-point shooting will be one of them.

Whatever the case may be, Kentucky has a challenging stretch to start the season that will see them play four games in seven days, including No. 5 Kansas in the Champions Classic, as well as a Richmond team picked to win the A-10 and was very close to being a preseason top-25 team.

Do Calipari’s comments concern you, or do you think Calipari is just exaggerating?

No, Quickly is gone. He was drafted by the Oklahoma Thunder in last night's NBA draft. He was the 25th pick, so he and Maxey (drafted by the 76ers at number 21) at least have a guaranteed contract (first round pick). Richards was also drafted, by New Orleans, but as the 42nd pick, he is not guaranteed a contract.

I think Cal is just bloviating -- it sounds like his normal pre-season coach-speak. Dontaie Allen can flat-out shoot the basketball, and if he isn't a defensive liability, he can be this year's designated three-point assassin.

Normally, Cal never complains about shooting in the pre-season and then we can't throw it in the ocean. Maybe this year he is complaining, and we will light it up.

Paul, what do you mean?

Did you think I looked up the definition of that word and copy and pasted here? I’ll have you know I knew exactly what it meant and how it was pronounced and posted it on here. I knew most of you guys don’t have the vocabulary of Tip and I. I was trying to be helpful.

Then again, maybe I’m just obviating. Or is that bolivating. I’m confused.
