John Calipari believes opposing teams come to Rupp Arena with nothing to lose. It might be difficult for a young team to grasp that, but Calipari wants to see his players take on the same attitude.
Freshman forward Keion Brooks is learning about the mentality of teams that aren’t expected to compete in Rupp Arena. Of course, Evansville stunned the Wildcats when Kentucky was ranked No. 1. Utah Valley followed that game with another scare for Kentucky. The Wildcats led by just one point with under four minutes to play.
“It makes the game interesting,” Brooks said. “Not afraid to take certain shots, not uptight. They’re just going out and playing. Those teams are always the most dangerous when they play with nothing to lose.”
