What would you say if you had bought a Horse for $30K, Trained the horse at a farm in Central KY. Missed out on the horse pool by 1 horse when post positions were drawn. Suddenly get re-entered into the most famous race in horse racing.
You get entered into the race on Friday Morning, go off as the heavy underdog at 80-1 odds. Then you up and win the whole thing going away!

Oh, by the way, your $30,000 horse just paid you $1.8 Million!

I'd call that a pretty good day!

When my son and I had some thoroughbreds a few years ago my son had a horse being trained by Eric Reed north of Lexington. So we had talked with the man before. He is a good trainer.

My granddaughter's boy friend called my son the day of the race to ask him about Mr Reed and wanted to know if he should bet $100 on the horse. Naturally my son, knowing horse racing, told him he wouldn't put that much on him. So he only put a $2 bet on him. Could have won about $3,500 if he had placed his original bet but ended up with over $160. It was a nice day, but could have been a whole lot better.
