Two Kentucky football seniors are making expected moves to the professional ranks.
Monday afternoon outside linebacker Boogie Watson signed with Agency 1. The news was announced shortly after Gator Bowl MVP AJ Rose revealed that he will be represented by Universal Sports Management, effectively ending each of their football playing careers at Kentucky.
Watson finished his Kentucky career with 107 tackles, 28.5 for loss and 18.5 sacks, the fifth-most in school history. Rose carried the ball 12 times for 148 to earn Gator Bowl MVP honors in the last game of his UK career. He finished in the top ten of UK’s all-time rushing list, accumulating more than 2,200 yards from scrimmage, with 1,971 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.
Since the Gator Bowl concluded, nine players have announced they will use the extra year of eligibility granted to them by the NCAA. OT Darian Kinnard, OG Luke Fortner, WR Josh Ali and TE Justin Rigg were the biggest surprises. There shouldn’t be too many more as we wait to hear news from RB Chris Rodriguez, LB Jamin Davis and S Yusuf Corker.
