Topic: Football it's all about recruiting!

Until we can recruit like the other SEC schools we will continue to be at the very bottom of the SEC. Just look at the 2017 recruiting ratings and it's obvious we are not even close to being a contender in the SEC! The SEC has 3 in the top 4, and 9 in the top 16. That is unbelievable and what we are faced with most every year.

We might not have Alabama, LSU or top LSU recruits but in my opinion, we do not have a SEC caliber coach.

I agree, you need good recruiting but IMO we have that now. Of course we don’t have the rosters to compete with the other SEC powerhouses but we have the roster to beat "out-of-conference" cupcakes and SEC bottom feeders. Right there, gives you a bowl. Also, I notice the coaching staff don't get 100% out of our players. We have lots of 3 & 4 stars that play like 1 stars IMO. I would love to have a coach like Mark Dantonio of Michigan St. That guy would turn our program around overnight. He gets 2 and 3 stars and turns them into NFL players.

WE have not had a winning record in the sec since 1977.
But at least Brooks got us to a bowl.
We pay our coach a sec salary to produce! (3.5m)
We spent close to 200M for upgrades!
Our 4 yrs of recruiting has been the best ever!
We can't beat conf usa teams!
conclusion:
COACHING is the problem! Unfortunately our AD gave Stoops a 12M buyout clause before he accomplished ANYTHING on the field.
We are stuck with him!

According to this article in the LHL it will cost UK over 17 million dollars to let him go after this season. Barnhard has really screwed UK once again with his brand of coach hiring expertise.

I agree! And he knew he couldn't miss on getting Calipari because it would be coach Cal's dream to come here. With the UK football job considered to be a stepping-stone school, they can still get a young proven coach.

Everything you said is dead-on! I remember Billy Gillispie's buyout was around $3 million, stoops buyout will be much more challenging to meet. ![[Roll Eyes]](rolleyes.gif)
